hi im not exactly sure how to put this so that it makes sense without going into to much detail but the last couple of months i have had a problem with my mental state that i havent had for almost 10 years and the hardest thing about is that last time i delt with it on my own and managed to supress this problem but its back and i just cant seem to do what i did last time and im worried about the ppl around me finding out as i dont exactly want them to know. it doesnt affect my abilty to do day to day stuff at least not yet and i dont feel like im in harms way but i really want to be able to make it go away
Sounds like this is a situation/problem that is really concerning you. I can understand why you don't want to share too much detail about what's going on for you right here, but i'm wondering if there is a way to get some help from someone in real life so to speak.. if you're not comfortable with talking with friends or family, what about a counsellor/gp? It's hard to give any sort of feedback about how to get through something that im not sure what it is? but that doesnt mean im not here listening if that makes sense!
Sorry, that may not sound helpful!

Re: need advice urgently
@Former-Member Good on you for reaching out, its the first and hardest step. This problem you describe as a 'Mental State' (?mental health issue? diagnosis? behaviour?). It clearly is causing some concern and anxiety and your frightened you won't be able to keep it hidden from the people in your life now, 10yrs later. Especially because old management strategies are no longer working. Have I for it?
IRS a bit hard to reply not knowing what the problem or mental state is. But I gear you.
Sometimes talking, even to a stranger about it can defuse it's power over you - you could start by ringing Llifeline some time when your alone, or sitting in your car.
Talk to your GP who are bound by confidentiality rules or get him/her to write a referral to a psychologist (a care plan requires a double apt). Take along any psych assessments you've done online to show them.
Journalling can have a similar purpose, getting it out of you.
You could google your symptoms and learn more about what this could be and what can help.
In the meantime: One common denominator with all Mental strain, that I have noticed, is STRESS: Are you under significant stress (worries, concerns, struggles..) at the moment, more than usual?? Can you reduce any stress in your life?
Do you have any stress management skills (relaxation, meditation, prayer, physical exercise / excretion, therapy).
Is there a trigger of late? Was there an event that traumatised you years ago? Is this PTSD?
You instinctively seem to know you're gonna need extra support sooner than later, so keep reaching out and deal with this thing.
All the best, keep posting if it helps xox

Re: need advice urgently
@Former-Member,
I don't believe you should have to deal with this on your own. I think you should see a G.P. and then a trained, experienced psychologist. What you say to them is confidential and your family and friends cannot find out.
When I fell ill with panic attacks and depression, there is no way I would have told the people close me what my thoughts were. They were very disturbing and odd. With some encouragement, I was able to tell a G.P. and then a psychiatrist and get the help I needed.
I still did not elaborate on what I was going through with those who were closest to me. I just used the blanket term 'depression' when talking with them. That was enough. (It's not like they encouraged me to talk about it anyway!! In fact, I think they would have preferred that I said nothing!)
Believe me, @Former-Member, the psychologists have heard it all... they will not judge you.

Re: need advice urgently
Hi given the length of time it's been for you you need to see your gp, for a ref for a psychiatrist You nerdd to refocus yourself Very clearly write, then write, and then rewrite your feelings and very clearly write it down like so in Dot points, then number them in order of your concerns You will find after self examination and clear thought you will get there.
