Discussion re layout of site

Hi everyone 🙂

I have spoken quite a bit with mods both of SANE and BlueBoard. While BB is still available at least to be looked at, please go check it out at

blueboard.anu.edu.au

and give your opinion on the general layout of the site.

Hey there mods, if I'm treading on toes or breaking rules putting this up, I apologise for that, but you know how I feel about the layout, and how the easier (in my opinion) layout may help many more people.

Seeking feedback 😉

As much as anything, seeking replies for the benefit of SANE organisers 😉

I started with BlueBoard and found it quite complicated at first. I found there were good things about BB and not so good.

When I moved to SANE I too found it rather confusing but it seems to be easier on my mobile than on the computer. On my mobile I can go into each section and I can then see which threads have replies and which ones haven't. This has helped me make the transition more easily BlueBells.

Unfortunately, the rsi puts mobiles out for me, even texting difficult 😞

@BlueBells Would it help if they put the last 10 posts up on the side instead of 5. Sometimes I think it would be helpful to have the last 5 discussions rather than posts on the side?

I really don't know. Open Sane, shows the 5 threads with the most recent posts, no, the five recent posts.

BB, shows the last 11 recent threads with posts, and the forum they are under.

Maybe it's just the combo of rsi and getting overwhelmed ;(

It must be really frustrating and painful with the rsi. I do understand there is a lot of scrolling. I find myself when I'm just looking at recent posts it is easiest to click on the Our experiences section and seeing the latest posts as they are ranked in order and have a time, then I click on something is not right section and skim through them and then looking after our wellbeing. If I'm feeling social I click on enjoying time with others to see what's happening on those threads. This is just the way I do it. I must admit unless I'm looking for something specific like an event I don't look at the others. It really depends on my mood as to what threads I read. I don't know if this helps. There is still some scrolling to do this though. The other thing I do is use the search bar often with a key word to find something I'm looking for. It's a bit of everything. Not only does the scrolling irritate the rsi, but also, time.

Usually when I feel the need for support, I am stressed, and easily overwhelmed. So, scrolling also takes time, and I feel I spend so much time scrolling and searching that I give up, usually feeling more isolated than I did in the first place.

I now tend to check the email notifications, and that's about it. Hardly what one would called interaction.

I so miss the contact I had with some of the BB'ers, but...they don't seem to be here much more anyway 😞 (Cap'n and Si , and others...)

I haven't dumped Sane, just too.........much, in so many little ways 😞

I'm very pleased to hear others find it so good, I understand how it feels to have a site that feels 'good'.

"dated" "90's" maybe that's one way to see it, I see it as unnecessarily "busy", ie, to much info on opening pages, too much space / gappiness on the threads (hence more scrolling).

I just prefer simple. I suppose that is all it is. And, I got used to the BB layout.

thank you for taking the time to explain it all. I agree I do find it overwhelming when I am having a bad day. I feel as though I pour my heart out and then that post disappears into the fog or cyberspace.
number of posts and I am already a senior, after only a few weeks. don't feel too good about that.

thank you @Former-Member for pointing me in the direction of the rules.

I hadnt seen the page before.

I now feel that I have gone about the whole posting and responding process in the wrong way.

I have clearly posted too many times in the short period that I have been on here to be now labelled senior.

Just scrolling down that page of all those rules reminded me so much of work, corporation style.

i do realise that there need to be rules in place and guidelines.

I am just in a very bad way at the moment and all of this seems to have turned around and bitten me. I really did feel as though I was making a difference for some people on here. I was using the short reply instead of the other one. i have written more than the number of paragraphs suggested and am doing the very same now. i will finish now.
