Welcome and getting started

First time posting

First time posting

Hi.

My first post.

My mental health has never been great. It feels like a constant battle but the last year has been the hardest.

On the outside it would of looked like the best year though.

I have not been one to want to discuss this topic about myself however I am feeling very alone and not understood and starting to feel like expressing my thoughts and feelings despite my massive fear of judgement

Re: First time posting

Hey @Tazzi and welcome, glad to have you with us. Hope you find it to be a warm and welcoming community. We have some Tips & Tricks for new members if you're interested 😊

Sounds like you have been struggling in silence for a long time. That can be a really heavy burden to bear, so I'm glad you've found this community. I've always known it to be a place free from judgement, and full of folks who understand, who accept, and who have been there. I hope you find it to be the same.

You're welcome to share your experiences here, or you can join in to other threads and start getting to know some other members. And of course feel free to reach out to the team if you have any questions or concerns!

Re: First time posting

Hi I'm new here also. Don't even know if this will post to be honest as it's kind of hard to navigate.

But I'm with you. I suffer anxiety and panic disorder and for 6 weeks it's been so hard. I don't want to move my physical symptoms I think I have all of them if not more then all haha. I feel like giving up. Trying to get better and nothing works. I havnt eaten in weeks and suddenly have a fear of food. I can't find how or why . I have had a fear of medications since an adverse reaction some time ago but food? Doesn't our mind create horrible feelings we can't control. I fell you. Please talk more about what your going through

Welcome @anon1988 😊

Hot tip - if you want another member to be notified that you've responded, use the @ symbol to see a drop down and select their name (or type their name out and select it that way) so it shows up in blue.

I'm sorry to hear that things have gotten so bad for you that you aren't eating, that's quite concerning! Sounds like this is something recent for you, and I can imagine it's pretty scary. Have you spoken to a GP or a therapist about this development? Definitely not something anyone deserves to go through alone. You could also reach out to The Butterfly Foundation for some support and insights.

Hope you find what you're looking for here 💜

@Jynx yes it's new and yes its scary along with all the other symptoms I have. I've tried everything even admitting to the mh ward with no luck they wouldn't take me.

Hope your doing ok

Re: First time posting

Ach that's really rough @anon1988 I'm sorry you got turned away. Do you have ongoing support from a therapist/other MH professionals? Have you spoken to the Butterfly Foundation before?

I hope that things become clearer for you - understanding is often the first step to making positive changes. Maybe take some time to reflect on whether anything changed or happened that may have ignited this for you.

Re: First time posting

Welcome @Tazzi @anon1988 ,

Thank you for sharing a bit about yourselves.

It certainly sounds like it's tricky to navigate.

@Tazzi , I sort of remember when I had it altogether on the outside, but was breaking down inside. The outside world saw me as someone educated, with a house and job, etc. Yet mentally, I was dying day by day.

I found these forums so helpful to get some of what was inside me, out. It really helped in my recovery. I hope you both find the connection and belonging on these forums helpful.

Please know you are not alone @Tazzi @anon1988

Re: First time posting

@anon1988 ach, that is frustrating. Did they not give you the opportunity to just have a chat, to maybe help you with some insight/exploration of what's happening?

When it comes to support lines, I always recommend to try more than once - you never know who you will get on the other end and just like any field, there are some who are better than others. Always worth a shot in my experience. You could try Sane's support line as well (1800 187 263, Mon-Fri 10am-8pm), they may not necessarily specialise in EDs but certainly can provide a listening ear.

You're definitely not alone in finding yourself going in circles. It can be really challenging but keep at it, sometimes finding the right MH support can be a bit of a numbers game - eventually you will find the right match which makes it all worth it.
