Re: Tabaluga's

Love it @StuF >(Enthusiasm may be confected lol)" and @MDT fancy govt org ... being an oxymoron. I have finally found my people!

@Taali @TAB I have a lot of pain including headaches and no longer count as much as I used to. So I have a very frugal, easy living style of spending most of my life, but especially in the last 15 years, even though I had good equity in my home. As I explained to Tab, I lost both my rich brother and poor brother, so know well, money is not everything. I Paid everything on credit card, but eventually could usually pay it off. Separate needs from wants. Dont buy if I dont need. Dont fix if its not broke. Lately tho, I have been paying cash at tills, just big bills (rapper apple), keep it simple for the checkout chics, and put the odd little amounts on my credit card. Poor banks. No interest. Can you tell I worked for tax once. Dont blame me for robodebt. lol I had been long outa there, but I was there during the floating of the internet etcetc.

Low spending ... with minor exceptions ... haha I spent $10 on loverly new opshop woolen big cardi... that the church laydees liked last Sunday. When I was little all the noice girrls turned there noses up at me. I can blend in and be camouflaged in swirly girly, posy rosy girrrl world now. Whooppee!

Ooops Taali you were an English teacher. I did an English major, and once worked in editing for a court. lol ... So, I can spell and count... oops maybe thats past tense! I decided by the time I joined Sane foruns to put those days behind me. Sorry if I have murdered the English language in all my posts. My excuse is it wasn't my mother tongue and I was trying to fit in with all the locals ... and on the wrong side of the railway tracks where I grew up ... they mainly only spoke in swear words. I have CREATIVELY tried to blend all the beautiful literature and musik I have done, with an Aussie colloquial, dinki di twang. lol Cos I was born here. Cried enuff and have to learn to laugh.

Getting into Aussie comedians lately

@SmilingGecko So glad you have had good tips from your building inspector friend. My main thing, cos I did geology, was I got extra level of reinforcement in my foundations.

Jeez.... the counting & words I had to learn in Geology ... are weird .... lotsa computation, syllables... and Latin!

Wots mad? Wots Science?

@heartathome @DownMoreThanUp @ENKELI and all reading along. Sorry for my rant.

Re: Tabaluga's

Thats really good @Appleblossom you have many strings to your bow, you were able to find your way through the system and fend for yourself, using your nouse and ingenuity to get by. Many women historically have been dependant on a male for all kinds of things. It takes courage to fly solo, be self sufficient as a woman and make your own strident decisions. And good for you with your nice opshop find! I hope you enjoy wearing it as much as the compliments you have been getting from church-goers. Just live for yourself and vouch for yourself, Appleblossom. Because at the end of the day we need to be good at self caretaking and being the parents to ourselves our families never were

Yes, we've got this! @StuF

Positive enthusiasm coming to you!!

Taali 💜

I just bought some flowers for my nephew and his wife, so am pretty happy with myself.

I had ordered them online and when I went to pick them up I didn't like what I'd ordered 🙃

They were really helpful at the florist's so super chuffed 😀

Oh @Appleblossom you never disappoint me. That's for sure!

I just love reading your posts.

They're always a charming mixture of profundity, pain and perspective.

Never change!

Re: Tabaluga's

Hey @StuF since my surgery in April I have lost my sense of taste which has meant that I have also lost my appetite 🙃

Good for my waistline, not so good for my health 😕

I'm desperate for a really spicy curry 🍛

Maybe I'll get a take away tonight!

I know it's an expense but I just need flavour.

Re: Tabaluga's

Thats really awful losing your sense of taste @Taali one takeaway cant hurt the budget. It may just make you feel a bit better and satisfy your need for something to eat.

Have you checked out the app Too Good To Go? Its a food waste initiative to salvage food from cafes and restaurants that have been cooked which nobody has bought to pass onto consumers at a heavily discounted price. I cant remember how much of a discount it was but it was substantiall!!! You can buy all kinds of things.

You just download the Too Good To Go app and enter your area in which you live and click on the things that come up on your phone you want to buy and collect at the designated time. I think you have to bring your phone with you or ID. It may just make things a bit easier for you with the occasional takeaway or when you cant bring yourself to cook. Its a win for the food outlets and a win for you ♥️
