13 11 14 Lifeline

13 11 14 Lifeline

Hello Everybody,

I am having difficult day. I called Lifeline this morning. The person I spoke with was understanding, kind, empathetic.

It was a good experience for me.

There are lots of "horrible distractions' in this world that can pull us to the darkest part of ourselves.

Talking to another - blurting out every single thing I could think of that was making it hard for me to want to continue living - it helped me more than I thought it would.

Everyday we see people in the street & shops. I suffer depression - it makes me feel worse to see people succeeding - even my PSW's (who I love) it hurts.

I really wanted to give huge shout out to Lifeline. If the person who spoke with me this morning ever reads this, I am so thankful that people in this world, take on the job that you do. I think these people, - psw here on SANE & all other crisis services, mental health services need to be acknowledged, how brilliant you all are & the impact you can have on people like me, by simply caring. Lots of us, maybe, don't have too much experience with that.

I hope one day, I can give back in a role that is suited to me.

Please do reach out forum members. The problems don't go away.

Unloading them all ..

it's ok. Call the help numbers if you need to.

That's All. I am so grateful I found a person who sounded like they were invested. Being listened to,.

It's everything, in a way.

Thankyou for all the work you do.

StanD

Hey @StanD

Wow, you sound like you are doing really well today, I am so pleased to hear it.

It really warms my heart to hear you had a positive experience with Lifeline this morning.

I highly recommend you write an email to Lifeline to let them know of this positive feedback and experience, I have known many hard-working individuals associated with Lifeline and I know they would really value this positive feedback. I'm sure you could easily find their email with a quick Google search.

What have you got on for the weekend?

Much love from Melbcoffeesnob

hi @StanD

Lifeline were amaing with me too a few years ago. I called and ended up in an ambulance to hospital. my mental health was terrible due to a medication; had a serious side effect. But the guy on the other end of the phone was amazing, caring, and easy to talk to., he even waited on the phone until the ambulance arrived.

Would def recommend Lifeline

Glad you were listened to and helped

That’s good you know that once I got on their web chat when I was in a really way back in like 2017 and they straight up said “you are one of those people that goes around to all the different services arenr you” and I was what and they were “yeah we aren’t going this today” and then left
Could not believe it
Glad you had a good experience though

Hey @StanD ,

Well done for reaching out.

It was a very brave step.

You deserve all the support you can get. I recognise how difficult things are for you at this time, and want to acknowledge how well you are doing - even if it is just holding on.

Please look after yourself.

Re: 13 11 14 Lifeline

I have had a good experience with the Sms service they do, it honestly surprised me that someone was calm and caring enough to deal with me not having a good time at 6:30 in the morning (and was slightly non verbal so speaking was out of the question!)

but isn’t it nice when you get someone on the other end who’s just a lovely person and you can tell they help with lifeline because they genuinely care about other people?

hope you’re doing ok 🙂

@StanD You're welcome and so happy you had a positive experience when you really needed it.

You mentioned difficulty handling the success of others - the saying "comparison is the thief of joy" is certainly true. I have openly compared my progress in life to a friend's and he wisely replied "it's not a race". It's challenging to celebrate the successes of others when we are in a rut, but different things happen at different times to all of us.

You've discovered how amazing simply caring for another human being can be.. and I'm sure you'll be successful in using your new superpower soon 🙂
