PJ Days ❤️🧠 R & R

PJ Days ❤️🧠 R & R

Reestablishing my life has been exhausting. Trauma exhausting, creating new beliefs, overwriting bad habits with good habits…

It is a cool cloudy day and I am taking advantage of it, with my first PJ Sunday.

I’m dozing off and on, eating Nachos, drinking hot chocolate.
Leaning into being.

My first thoughts are; "ofcourse! how does one lean into being without PJ's, anyway..?."

I mean, that element right there is so fundamental, I've been known to have PJ Sunday on any day of the week!. Even if I'm going shopping or to an appointment...

If mine were the life of Walter Mitty, PJ's could well be my 'quintessence' 😊

Thank you for this post, @Glisten

I so very relate to the exhaustion factor... Often times I feel exhausted just for daring to even think about rebuilding. But there is a distinct undercurrent of optimism, agency, and personal power in your post, and it's uplifting to hear.

I've driven down to the supermarket this evening; and I passed by a rabbit kitten - crumpled like a dish rag where the grass reaches for the road...

I'm not particularly squeamish, but there was something about glimpsing the dear thing that really wrang the water from my eye.

Maybe overwriting bad habits with good, and creating new beliefs, can resurrect that part of us that was also left lifeless once, by the roadside... 🙏

@Kyle1 Thank you Sister of the PJ Day. According to my Psychologist, my Rebellious-self insists on me being happy.
She has immersed me in counselling. Happiness even if it takes ripping off a few layers and digging stuff out. She is brutal but she gets the job done.

🤔 Should I give Rebel-me her own name? Suggestions?

Re: PJ Days ❤️🧠 R & R

you mean your rebel name isn't already Glisten ? 😉

Not to deceive you, either, @Glisten

But for transparency sake, I'm not a female.. I'd be your 'brother' in pj's 🙏

@Kyle1 My Bro in PJs 🤗

Thank you for pointing out the obvious that was obscured from me, changing lenses in progress. Glisten it is.

Back to reading book Setting Boundaries by Dr Rebecca Ray 👍🏼

Re: PJ Days ❤️🧠 R & R

@Glisten ah I love this!

This was me on Saturday. I desperately needed a rest day and was trying so hard not to feel GUILTY about resting!

Re-writing beliefs about oneself, getting to know your true authentic self (not who others told you to be), it all takes an awful lot of energy.

I think maybe we should make PJ Sunday a regular thing. Take a day for being, not doing. There was a time when Sunday was a day of rest... I say we bring that back!

Also just wanted to say well done on the whole re-establishing your life process. It takes a lot of courage, determination and hard work, so good on you 🙂 (I'm currently trying to do the same)

@MissMuffet That unconscious mind can bring anxiety when we start changing things.

Not being hypervigilant can feel like being lazy.

I’m just trying to go to sleep at a good time. Making regular daily routines is a challenge for me. Schedule in PJ Sunday as required.

@Glisten

Yes, it brings anxiety and doubt.

I don't have a routine. Well I do, but it's a terrible one that I dearly would like to change but I don't know how. Going to be at a reasonable time seems like a good start...

@MissMuffet I can’t find Daily Routine in the Resources section of the website. I wonder if @Jynx or @tyme know where we can find Daily Routine for we people in progress?

Re: PJ Days ❤️🧠 R & R

It's really odd, when I am in the company of people who do have a solid routine (Eg my parents, when they come to stay) it's fine, I am able to use my time efficiently and I eat meals at normal times etc. When it's me on my own I just flounder about unless I have something to go to (work or an appointment) but then I feel like I'm in a flap, running around to other people's schedules. My partner is just as bad has me - he has ADHD - and we pretty much enable each other to waste time and then get stressed because we haven't "done anything". Maybe it's accountability? How does one be accountable to oneself? It's hard finding that balance between accountability and (not causing) stress. I just wish things were easier and that this kind of thing came easily to me. It doesn't help that my meds take ages to kick in and it takes me a good hour or so to actually wake up properly and "turn on". I'm like a computer that takes ages to load.

Unless those resources help with this faulty operating system I don't know what to do 😕

I wonder if this is another part of me that requires a level of acceptance. Would be easier if I lived in a society where the clock didn't dictate everything so much.

What do your struggles with routine look like? @Glisten
