~ The Toolshed ~

~ The Toolshed ~

So I've decided to create a new space, similar to The Ice-Memery but instead of being silly memes, these are memes/images/words etc. that I've found that are more like tools and insights for recovery. Hence, I welcome you to:

~ The Toolshed! ~

🔧💡🔩🤔

These are things I've found that are insightful, provide psychoeducation, or that have helped inspire me in my recovery journey. I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! But to start us off, I would love to share a nice lil stack of memes/pics I've found that I thought were really worth the read.

P.S. If you haven't already, you can also check out our Coping Toolbox for ideas and strategies to help you when you need to cope with the hard stuff!

So without further ado, lemme kick us off!

Will just tag a few forumites to start, pls do tag anyone you feel would enjoy or wanna contribute to this thread!

Re: ~ The Toolshed ~

@Former-Member maybe no decision can be made just yet? Like if the path isn't yet clear to you, it could be that more info is needed or something, and you may have to just sit in the uncertainty (I know, yuck) until next steps become apparent?

Re: ~ The Toolshed ~

@Former-Member I agree with what @Jynx said. Sometimes things resolve themselves.

Having said that, personally there have been important things that I needed to address and attend too that I have completely ignored and avoided, because I am so terrified of making a mistake.

In the 13 year relationship coercive control DV, everything was my fault all the time. Even my adult children victim blamed me.

Re: ~ The Toolshed ~

@Glisten at the moment I'm just sitting with it and laying low.

That fear of making the wrong decision is strong. I don't want to rush into anything but I also have to make a choice.

I know your pain, I was in a relationship like that for almost 10 years. It does so much damage to how you see yourself and your decision making ability.

Re: ~ The Toolshed ~

@Former-Member Crippling.

Unless you have been through it, you can’t understand it.

Friends and family who have no comprehension of what you have been through, are frustrated when there is no easy solution to your situation.

I’ve compared the feeling to willing myself to grasp a red hot poker with a bare hand.

I am desperate to evolve out of this, but I don’t know how to do that. @tyme any suggestions on how to evolve from this programmed behaviour?
