Nothing feels real

Nothing feels real

I had a migraine triggered yesterday from barely sleeping and still recovering from it. I slept better last night, mind still feels very foggy. This morning I felt discomfort in my body, my mind went to when I used to feel it years ago. Then I noticed myself feeling distant, sort of floaty. I hope I can get through the day today with uni

Re: Nothing feels real

@Snowie, you’ve been so supportive lately, thank you 💖🫂. I thought things had eased, it just felt like a let down. I know you can’t always control triggers. I’m trying to go back to the growth mindset. I felt so ashamed of what was happening in my body last week, I got carried away in that shame, and forgot about the story that I have been trying to change. I don’t want to be defined with everything that has happened, I don’t want to let it rob me of my dignity or strength. It’s unfortunate it happened, life isn’t always fair, but I need to bounce back. I’m hurting but I am also trying to change my worldview, but it’s a slow process. I’ve even been trying to change my mindset from “better off alone” to “better off with the right people”. I am learning to trust again, and it’s scary

Re: Nothing feels real

@creative_writer trust is scary, especially if that trust was taken from us. It takes a lot to trust someone again, to open our heart up to them.

It is hard when we are hurting. It is so hard to get past that and change our mindset. I know I have to change mine too.

Re: Nothing feels real

@Snowie, it’s scary to trust when I have so many reasons not to. Trusting even mental health professionals is hard, I’ve had bad experiences before too. I know there are people out there who are safe to trust, but how can I trust my brain to find those people?

I guess it’s a work in progress. I hope we both get there one day 💖

Re: Nothing feels real

@creative_writer I think sometimes it takes some courage to take that leap. To trust ourselves. Unfortunately it is not something that happens quickly.

Time for me to go to bed. I hope you get some sleep. Will check in on you tomorrow.

Re: Nothing feels real

@Snowie, it certainly does take a while to build trust. I hope you have a restful night 💖.

I’ll be going to bed soon too. I’ve been finding that as I’ve gotten older, I’m going to bed earlier 😂

Hi @Snowie, I hope you are doing well 💖.

I had a big day yesterday so didn’t get the chance to reply. I’ll be taking it more easy today.

Re: Nothing feels real

@Snowie, I had a long shower, just put an hydrating soothing face mask on. I did think too much too, I don’t feel like I am supposed to trust people. I can’t openly talk about SA, my pdoc had to ask me about it during my last appointment because I had no idea where to start, flashbacks can be troublesome and hard to talk about. I can’t talk about how hard it’s been growing up with a mum who had mental health issues, I am always scared of hurting her and feel so responsible for her emotional well-being. The reality is, I think she has had SI before as her past behaviour suggests, I only really processed it today. I think she is also afraid of being torn away from us, separation anxiety is something she has to deal with. She thinks I am too independent.

I hope today has been kind to you 💖💖

Re: Nothing feels real

Thank you for sharing your story @@creative_writer.

Your willingness to open up and share your experiences is both inspiring and valuable. It means a lot, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn from your journey.

In regard to "learning to trust again" please note that it's important to be kind to yourself and take your time getting to know new people. Rebuilding trust and getting to know new people can be a challenging and sometimes slow process, but from what you have written you sound resilient and intelligent, and I believe in your strength and resilience and that you will be able to conquer this.

You got this 👊
