Schema therapy

Schema therapy

I have been going through an incredibly difficult time of late. Lots of unsafe behaviours and dissociation.

I saw my psychologist on Monday and we are going to start schema therapy to work on my behaviours and DID.

I'm a little anxious to say the least. I don't like others seeing my alters. Plus with all the stress I'm going through I don't know if I could manage the work we will be doing.

How do I allow myself to open to someone again. My psychologist is fairly new and every time I start getting along with one they change or they leave or my funding changes etc.

I'm also anxious to learn about myself in this way. I have locked some of ua out and when they show up I get really unsafe. and things are already really risky rn.

But I know this needs to be done. And my psychologist has given me the tiniest amount hope that it's been a few day since I've tired suicide. I just have to ride this all out until I get to the place my psychologist is saying I'll find.

Random last note: has anyone done schema and what's your opion of it.

Re: Schema therapy

Hey @The-red-centaur

i did schema therapy with my last psychologist and it really resonated with me. It really helped me to understand myself better. I don’t have DID, but I do dissociate a bit when things get overwhelming.
I relate to 4 parts.. the vulnerable child, the healthy adult self, the hopeless part and the abuser.
my new psychologist isn’t as familiar with schema therapy but she is willing to work with me a bit on it and allow me to continue what I learnt and how I find it helpful.
