Voices

Hi,

I started hearing voices. Apart from Lifeline and a couple of other resources, it’s quite difficult and I’m wondering does anyone have any advice. They are very negative whispers. I am pretty sure they can’t harm me or my family. Am not taking it on board. Thank you.

Re: Voices

Hi @Tudor22

Thanks for posting and reaching out. It's a positive thing to do when you're having such moments because I imagine its disturbing at times, so checking in with some members who have experienced similar things is valuable and highly recommended. As moderators we can look out for you as well. So I hope you feel safe and connected here.

I think for now (apart from lifeline and other services) if you can try to ground yourself by connecting with the familiar world around you and distract yourself by acknowledging all your senses as being as important if not more important than what your mind is telling you. So to feel material things, smell food or perfumes etc, listen for external sounds, as well as distract yourself as much as possible then I think this may take your focus from the voices and place you into the 'real' world so to speak. Of course everyone is a bit different but tapping into your inner abilities is a nice way to remind you of your value and individuality. As I said there are many people on this forum who can relate at a meaningful level (admittedly less so at night!) so hang in there and feel free to chat anytime.

Re: Voices

Hi @Tudor22

It's nice to meet you.

Hearing voices inside our heads can be very hard to deal with, especially when they are negative voices. It is good to hear that you have been reaching out for help.

@NiteKat has made some great suggestions. I really try and keep myself grounded and in the present moment.

I acknowledge how hard it can be when these voices are constantly there.

Do you have any professional support?

Please know that we are here for you
