@Faith-and-Hope, thought of you when I saw this canvas pic in the OP shop yesterday, had to grab it for only $3, I'll imagine us having coffee there often, pretend its near a dulphin river with tall Norfolk pines and my fav birds around and duck families stopping the traffic 🙂 xox

I took a long walk this morning, and it's been a slow day of housework after that .... not terribly exciting.

The river was beautiful though .... no dolphins today, but there were pelicans .....

Okay .... anyone remember these ? I posted this image a while back ....

These are Greek doughnuts called Loukoumadthes .... drizzled with honey, crushed walnuts and dusted with cinnamon .....

And this is what happens to them when placed before my family ....

The pastry on the right of the image is called Bougatza .... a warm custard pie of sorts .....

So ..... this is how Loukoumadthes look here in 'Straya ....

.... and the ice cream is sacrilege btw .....

That's cos we're not skilled at making them ..... The Traditional Way .....

Yes .... the chef is throwing hands-full of dough into the hot oil ..... in such a way as to have them land as rings .... ??!!

I had his permission to take the photos btw .... and he worked fast !!

Then he turned them over with a small wooden spatula ....

... and fished them out all brown and crunchy .... Yummo ....❣

They can be drizzled in chocolate instead of honey ....

The walnuts and the fat from being cooked in oil help to slow down the sugar hit, and cinnamon supports our insulin function .... another way the traditional balance of Greek cuisine is very healthy .... these things are not eaten every day, and if you've been shovelling snow ... ? No problemo !! ... 😄
