Wouldn't say black Friday is lucky @TAB but I did get my drivers license first go in my teens on a black Friday. It was funny, they had lots of vacancies that day or i 'd have to wait 2 more weeks. Never forget it, my car door wasn't shut properly and it flew open when I went round corner. Thought I failed for sure but nope, he said "I thought you handled it well" PHEW!

How was your day?

Re: Far and Away

Hiya @Former-Member .... 😊💕

It was a good day. We left "spa town late morning .... took the ferry back to the mainland, then had a three hour drive home. The weather was glorious .... the mountains blue .... distant gigantic peaks still fully white snow-covered with soft, pale blue shadows. Bright blue sky, sunshine, top of 13deg. Jumper and jacket weather.

Didn't get my photo of the old bath house .... we are all chiefs and no Indians .... makes a complete mess of the organisation sometimes ... lol .... but par for the course around here .... I found a photo of the front on an Internet site, but it had a beautiful semi-circular stone walled back end, and an aeration design for the roof that was really interesting and unusual. I am going to search further and see if I can find a better view of it online.

WH hit the ground running when we got back here .... so after an 8am breakfast it was a 4:30pm lunch .... :face_with_rolling_eyes: .... post-gym, then we walked up to the coffee bar this evening with S2 where he and WH played backgammon. Got a walk in .... 👍🏼 .... with a banana choc hazelnut crepe in hand for dinner on the way.

How was your day ? You said you had some work to do about the house ... that's gonna be me tomorrow ....

Original Roman-Byzantine baths prior to the one outside the supermarket.

Got creative with this cos had to edit someone out of it ..... third old bath-house ....

Sailing away .....

Hello @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member @TAB @Anony18

hilarious Tawney and hand brake breaking .......not good moment

you both got there in the end

many many moons ago when i took my driving test, i was told to turn left at a section that had a roundabout. well of course i used the incorrect entrance.

comment from other: "could you try that again, this time, turn left on the correct side of the roundabout and if we could use all four wheels not just two please!!"

in my usual style i just laughed and said something like oh dear, he gave me a huge grin.

well i passed.

hello @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member @TAB @Former-Member @Anony18

looks like you are visiting some awesome architecture and still having fun.

great stuff for all of you....this will be such a life experience to reflect on.

how did you manage with such huge amount of snow?. saw pictures yesterday on sbs news.

I lived in Canada for a while and remember the depth of white snow, not like what i saw yesterday, cars buried.

From what I have learnt about you Faith in the short time that I have known you, that would not deter you in the least.

so keep on enjoying that wonderful family trip of a lifetime.

A must........keep on telling us about your adventures. far better than any medication.

ggh xxxxx

Re: Far and Away

Hi @Faith-and-Hope 😀 Great pics. Prob mentioned saw model of Trier in Roman times. Well, in Trier, haha. Was Roman trading town in Western Germany. Didn't realise they had central heating back then. Slaves used to tend fires under big buildings and smoke was channeled thru ducts built into walls for heat. Amazing
