Re: Far and Away

That is a massive relief @Zoe7 . So glad to hear it ❣️ I hope she is ready to go home next week.

How did the football go @Zoe7 @Snowie ? D2 sometimes likes to watch it and other times prefers her cooking and travel shows, so that's what she had on this afternoon. I am just grabbing my knitting after a late (again) dinner, and will sit down to join her for a while.

How are all the fur babies ?

I put the harness on a teddy I have given Nelly, in front of her, and took teddy out and about with me to post a parcel and return, taking the harness off teddy in front of her. I hope she gets the drift. I met one of the neighbours in our area and he said he has two cats, one who tries to run out without a harness. That one hasn't worked it out yet either ....,

Oh @Faith-and-Hope that is super cute. I can imagine you walking around with a teddy on a harness lol I hope Nelly gets the idea and will let you put it on her eventually.

I am watching the football now - missed most of the previous 2 games 😴 Tobes and Clover are sound asleep - Tobes spread out on the back of the couch and Clover on Toby's bed on the floor - so all quiet in our house (for now).

Haven't had any dinner myself tonight - got a couple of thngs at the supermarket when I was there but do not feel like it this evening - my tummy has not been great today so giving it a break.

Do herbal teas help to settle your tummy @Zoe7 ?

Re: Far and Away

No they don't @Faith-and-Hope One it gets painful I just need to let it pass - can take minutes or hours depending on whether I have eaten or not. I am really careful with what I eat but occasinally it doesn't matter I eat a lot of ginger to help and have medication daily - I think that has all helped over the years but stress can add an extra layer to it - as does feeling unwell in other ways (colds etc.). Pain meds do not help either but they do help with the headaches I get as a result 👍

D3 has a lot of issue with her stomach, but I think there must be a stress relationship there @Zoe7

Re: Far and Away

There often is @Faith-and-Hope I hope she can get on top of both the stress and her tummy issues. It took us years to get to the bottom of mine ...lots of tests and exploration but finally having an answer was life changing - in many ways ...I needed to change my diet slightly (not too much because I didn't have a lot of the foods that made it worse but the small amount I did had a massive impact). My sister is really great making sure I can eat what is cooked for special occasions ...and I can sometimes indulge in different food when I go out (which is very rare) but then know I will likely be in some discomfort afterwards.

Re: Far and Away

I have a girlfriend in the west with similar issues @Zoe7. She has to tread carefully too. It means a shift in the dial, right ? It's a different 'normal'. Society is much more food friendly to differences in diet tbat it was when we were growing up, that's for sure.

Re: Far and Away

It didn't take a lot of adjustments for me @Faith-and-Hope as I have always loved my veggies and salads. I don't eat a lot of meat (red meat particularly) but also have to be careful with additives, sauces, etc. I make my own salad dressings with things I can eat (lots of ginger which I love so it is not a chore). I also don't really like sweet things (the raspberry lollies I had the other day an exception lol). ...and never really liked coffee - the occasional tea (which I have always had black). I did used to drink a lot of milk but don't do that now either. There have been some adjustments along the way - and some trial and error - but on the whole worked around.

Just gave the laundry basket lid the first coat of stain varnish as the handle was dry. Will give it another ooat in the morning and one more in the afternoon then a few days to dry completely. It is going to be good to have it done and have a lid on the basket again.
