Any good churches to visit there? Did you go this morning? Love ancient architecture and history. Churches are great for it. Hugz xox

Re: Far and Away

@Faith-and-Hope I have ordered a little sleeping cat angel garden statue and will also get some paw shaped solar lights. Then I am going to do a mosaic over her grave and put the statue and lights there. Right now I am trying to cut the corners of the sleepers that make up the garden edging to join together. It is a slow process because my saw attachment is not very sharp and I can't afford a new one at the moment - but we do what we can with what we have. It is working - just slow going. I do a little bit then have to take a break because my legs and arms are a bit shaky today.

Tobes is supervising but Clover seems to be taking the day off - she hasn't moved from her chair under the dining table all morning. LOL spoke too soon - she just got off - her ears must have been burning hahaha

There is still quite a bit to do in the corner - have to remove a couple of trees - they are ones that have seeded there and should not be there so they need to be removed so the lemon tree and camellia can grow. I am going to eventually get a couple of decorative garden panels to put in the corner behind the trees and have some creepers growing over them - most likely with white flowers (the colour of Cat's paws 👍).

@Snowie @Anastasia Doing Cat's corner is both helping and heartbreaking but it is something I need to do to make it a special memorial for her.

Re: Far and Away

It will be @Faith-and-Hope My sister wanted to help me - and as much as I appreciated her wanting to - I do want to do it on my own. It is my way of both honouing Cat and dealing with her loss at the same time - and my sister gets that She dug a lot of the grave for me because I could not physically do it all.

I have finished cutting the edges - now have to dig out the ground to join them. I think one is slightly crooked though (from sight) but will see when I finish digging - might just need a little more off in the bottom corner 👍

What are you up to today?

Re: Far and Away

WA has severe weather warnings for major areas of the state's coastal regions. We were going to travel today, and have delayed, so also had to find new accommodation here. Quite a schomozzle really @Zoe7 .... but what's new ? Lol.

I love sea glass @Anastasia. I want to make mosaics with it eventually. This image speaks of peace and gentle joy to me.

Re: Far and Away

Oh dear @Faith-and-Hope but love your sense of humour about it all - sometimes there is nothing we can do and plans just go out of the window - hoping it passes quickly and you can travel asap.

I love sea glass too @Faith-and-Hope @Anastasia It was only a few weeks ago I was showing our class sea glass all over the world. We were having a discussion about ocean rubbish (looking at endangered/threatened species and the impact upon them) and as usual our discussion lead sideways - this time to sea glass

I have hit a major hurdle in the garden - one massive tree root that needs to be removed - will need the big saw for that one! So a bit more rest then time for some extra power

Re: Far and Away

@Faith-and-Hope @Anastasia @Snowie Large tree root removed and trimmed the edge of the garden sleeper to fit better. It is too dark now to do anymore so tomorrow I will plane the top off the sleeper to straighten it (has buckled a little since I cut it a couple of years ago ) then did out a little more and lay it. There is plenty more digging and vine removal to do as well but that is a tomorrow job now.

Re: Far and Away

@Snowie I have layed sleepers as a border on two sides of the garden and built one corner up with a large mosaic design done in rocks (an octagon shape with a yin yang in the middle). I build a small deck at the front - just high enough to sit on - it is my favourite corner of the garden but still needs some more plants. I have been meaning to do the other corner for years - now I have a reason and a purpose to make it special for Cat. Eventully I will lay sleepers along the remaining side but have to remove a couple more tree stumps first and that I do not have the strength or energy for at the moment - the roots are too big and go too far so part of the grass needs to be dug up to remove them.
