Any good churches to visit there? Did you go this morning? Love ancient architecture and history. Churches are great for it. Hugz xox

Re: Far and Away

Sorry @Former-Member .... late response for your Christian forum question ..... don't know of one, but I hear you .....

Think mental support services aren't so much concerned about people having a faith system .... I would only imagine that is a supportive thing because faith systems focus on the positive aspects of life in the main .....

It's more a concern I think if people blindly accept religious teachings without applying their own intelligence to what they have been taught, and develop their own moral code within that faith, adopting and working that moral code because they believe it to be right, and doable, rather than being "religious", if that makes sense.

Some people who are very mentally unwell are like religious zealots (one of the disciples was .... Simon the Zealot ..... precious to following Jesus) and they appear as extremely pious, but can also twist those religious teachings and make them very unhealthy. I guess similar to what has happened to WH, where his original intent was to lose his excess weight and take on a healthy lifestyle .... but that zealous mentality has taken over and turned his regimen into a mask for something very unwell.

This will be what the health workers you have experienced will be looking for, and if they have no religious persuasion themselves they will have little to no patience for it in any case.

Indigenous people now have advocates to support them where they didn't before, and they remain a highly disadvantaged sub-group of society .....

Private mental health services are far more likely to be supportive of what you are talking about, or mental health services associated with religion .... such as Anglicare. Are you able to contact Anglicare and see if that is helpful ?

Re: Far and Away

Hi @Former-Member

I am glad I found your post today- I have had a late start

Just because we believe what others do not doesn't mean we are delusional - it means they don't understand what we do - and I really care about this - but don't have a lot of time right now

However - I did study the Philosophy of Religion at university and I was no kid either - I forget how old I was - in my late 30s I think - and when someone challenged my belief in God - in a seminar - and told me to prove the existance of God - I challenged him back to prove the non-existance of God

And yes - the nay-sayers have every right to not-believe - but that doesn't make them right

I am a convicted Christian - totally believe - but then - I have also studied the subject and know - we do have to examine our beliefs as well

But I am sure that everyone with a strong faith knows the truth - God is real for them - and a religion is a powerful thing - it can help us face the worst and darkest things in life knowing our truth is right for us

I think you need the sacraments and it is sometimes hard to get them in a public institution - but still - it's right for you to want and need them

Re: Far and Away

Thanks for the Callouts Faith-and-hope, Dec, Zoe. Today I made myself go out, met a friend for A/T and came home feeling better. Popped into the Op shop on the way home, the library, crab a kebab (gosh I was hungry) got mothers day gift. Funny how doing stuff makes ya feel better. Just exchanging the weather with someone brings me great relief some days 🌞

About MH Forums for Christian - provably too much to ask 'cause its negative focus I guess. Probably just be told to 'have more faith' 'pray more' 'repent' 'just speak to the mt' 'stop saying negative things (how else do you tell how you feel?), read your bible... Well, I've been told all those things.
Anyway, maybe best kept between me and God, but I will go to Church Websites, see if they have a link to a forum even if just for believes chitchat. Thanks against 🙂
