Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

Hey @Teej. So happy to see you 🙂 I'm bang in the middle of my bonkers this week. Today I had/have back to back planning kind of meetings at school this morning, a counselling session, training session for a few hours tonight and parent + puppy are staying for a few nights (super circus with the three cats!). I was worrying so much about there being too much going over the next couple of days buuuuut I *think* it's OK. I'm a bit tired. Thank you for caring and asking ❤

I have been thinking of respite. Do you think it's something that could be helpful for you?

Hey @Sans911 🙂

Gotta fly again 👋❤

Re: Just checking in.

Hi to anyone reading this 👋🏻

I am just doing a check in. So much has been going through my mind in a mostly ok way this week. Epiphanies included starting to question my over sensitivity to so many things, thinking about a direction for me and some things about identity and personality.

I left my psych appointment on Tuesday feeling gutted and hopeless. Ive thought about some of the conversations we had and realised there was some big stepping stones there. One of the first is that hit me is that yet again I’m doing a therapy with no direction. I asked her what I do about the things that we talk about it and she replied with ‘ You think about it'. My initial reaction was that I can do that till the cows come home but there is no change. I have almost got a masters in thinking about things 😳. Today I think I finally got it. The way she is going about therapy is actually getting me to know myself and find some good parts (or in my terms, the less bad parts 🤨).

I also have been thinking about what to do about being overly sensitive. It kind of came to a climax when I started watching my first ever netflix series (or any tv series for 5.5 years). I had to stop it so many times as I became so anxious and overwhelmed and didn’t want anything bad to happen. My spidey senses were in overdrive on a comedy series that I know can’t get rid of the main character in the first 3 episodes and are not likely to given the format of it. It was 'the good place' with Ted Danson and Kristen bell but I was like a child fearful of bad things happening. It was at this point I knew I have to overcome my ridiculous anxiety and sensitivity around this to try and become a real person. Today I talked to my therapist about wanting her help to 'toughen up' 👸.

I have some goals I want to try as well and talked to my therapist about them today. It was good to talk to her about this stuff. The other thing I’ve come away with is the realisation that I have confidence that I can work with both my therapist and psych and finally have an understanding how they can each help me in different ways.

Things are far from great still but just maybe they are further away from being really bad. I have some hope and some plans around achieving some important goals if I’m going to survive in this world.

Re: Just checking in.

I think that all shows your own self-awareness @Teej and it is great you have found some direction to go in with your therapy. None of it is going to be easy but you have taken a massive step in voicing your concerns and wanting some direction out of all this. So many positives in that - and that is great to hear

Re: Just checking in.

@Zoe7 I’ve missed reading how your day went. Feel free to point me in the best direction to read about it.

@CheerBear I read your worry room post. I know the feelings you are having. Easter for me was a bit like that. There were moments of me living my old life and then the realities that I’m not. Over all it was the most natural time I’ve had for many years. How are you feeling now about it all? I think it is perfectly normal for all you’ve been through to have these thoughts.

you’ve got this, I’m sure of it, just like I believe @Zoe7 has got it re work, and @Sans911 has through her study and goals.

@Faith-and-Hope Did you see any of the Archibald entries. There were some great ones. The ABC had a time lapse clip of the artist painting hers that won the packers prize.

@Sans911 How was your day? Is the essay going ok?

@oceangirl Thanks for all the good wishes. I read your post on your checking in thread but was unable to reply today. I will hopefully pop over now if my dog lets me.

Hugs and kind wishes to anyone who drops in here. 💜🤗
