Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

That made me smile @Faith-and-Hope thank you ❤

I'm so stirred up still and struggling to calm the left over feelings from the 🤯 that was today. It's so hot and that has me short fused too I think as I was hoping for a cooler change by now. Bed time yet?

Hope today has been OK or better for you. Hugs back ❤

Okay .... so where did you get the Bananahead emoji @CheerBear ??

Re: Just checking in.

Haha @Faith-and-Hope 😂 @Teej taught me that one.

I feel like it would be awesome to actually have a banana head emoji though. A cross between 🍌 and 🤯 maybe. One day my plan to have it as an official, frequently used and commonly understood term will happen 😜

Yeah .... today was okay, although I have ice-cream insides that melt in the heat you know ..... so I sorta turn a bit mushy, but I’ll do .....

I contacted a therapist today (by email then phone) cos I am feeling like I need someone irl to walk the steep and rocky hills with me this year. She seems really nice, and has agreed to an initial consult, although there really isn’t anywhere that provides for carers where there isn’t a diagnosis over their cares-for’s ..... so I am still squeezing myself in between the cracks. Hopefully somewhere in my future there will be an opportunity to contribute towards getting better carer services up and going in the waste-land between onset of illness and diagnosis + treatment ..... that zone called Precontemplation .....

Aww @Faith-and-Hope for your mushed up icecream insides. It's blegh today/tonight. Even my lava insides are feeling it 😉

So glad you have a professional someone (hopefully) to walk with you. It would be very hard to find support when you fall through the cracks like it seems you might. I think you are already doing so much in the way of contributing to (much in need) support for carers through your story sharing and awareness raising.

I really hope this therapist is helpful for you ❤

Re: Just checking in.

Today was one of those days where I am proud that I am OK tonight. Most of today royally sucked.

It started last night when friend and I tried to resolve a tricky hiccup we were having (the hiccup that caused my need to step back for some time out). He yelled, lots, and when I tried to end the conversation he yelled some more. I hung up and from there he was pretty relentless in his need to keep talking. He pushed and then pushed and then pushed some more. I was absolutely spent by the time I went to bed and I felt trapped and suffocated.

Nothing felt right with it last night but I get so jumbled up trying to work out what doesn't feel right because it isn't right and what doesn't feel right because of my past experiences. Today I had a counselling appointment with someone who has expressed concerns about my thing with friend. She called it emotional abuse and I quietly agreed even though I hated that I did and I felt really sad and yuck about it. It's messy and ouchies and I'm so thankful I'm not pregnant. I would be in way too deep if I was. Even though that one still hurts, I know it was right for me and my family.

In between that I dug myself a giant hole with the NDIS and found myself in a right 'there is no hope with this' jumble. I was beyond angry and all kinds of "f... it" went through my head. I'm not going to stir myself up again by thinking about it so I will stop.

Somehow I managed to put all the stuff from today aside and get through the night without melting down, despite coming very close. I could have completely lost my s&#% today but I didn't.

I want progress for me to look like uni. I want that so, so badly. I'll settle for progress maybe looking like not going into total meltdown mode when I might have in the past - for now at least.
