Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

Morning @Mazarita 🙂 I'm here, just wandering around the dark and twisty roads of the web.

How are you this morning? How was your yesterday?

Re: Just checking in.

I wonder what dark and twisty paths you've been wandering on the web, @CheerBear. Sometimes I love a good net wander.

I've pretty much just stepped out of bed, had a smoke, checked out the moon setting over the rooftop from the courtyard again, just as the sky is getting lighter. So quiet this morning, I could hear the waves on high tide at the beach. Usually that gets drowned out by traffic on the highway. All in all, another lovely morning, and even better because you are here for a chat too.

Yesterday was a really good day, but I'll save that story and just post this one now. Want to first hear how you are this morning, and gather my sleepy brain. Will read back a bit more over the posts from yesterday too, so I'm more up to speed.

Re: Just checking in.

I knew you lived close-ish to the beach but didn't know you lived close enough to hear it @Mazarita. How awesome 😊 Great to hear yesterday was a good one for you.

I had some good solid sleep last night so I woke feeling OK enough, despite it being in a huge puddle of nightsweat (that one may be stopping my med I think). My wander around the net was interesting, though a little dark. I was reading all about the politics of abortion in Australia which I found pretty fascinating.

It is very light here and has been since I woke a couple of hours ago. Sunday sounds today - more birds than traffic 🙂

Re: Just checking in.

Yes, so lucky, @CheerBear, the beach is just across the highway from here, and we live just far enough down a side street from the highway that the traffic is not too bothersome. More troubling are the aircraft that fly over very regularly all day, as they come in to land. I've found there's always something difficult about every place I've lived in, even when I've loved being there in other ways, as I do here. Getting better at ignoring the jets as time goes by though, even though it is like living in 'The Castle' sometimes, lol.

Love it when I hear you have had some good sleep. You are probably right about the night sweat being related to meds withdrawal.

Sounds like a reasonable thing to be doing with researching the abortion issue. Both of my experiences were in Queensland, the first during the really repressive days of Joh Bjelke-Petersen, around the time he was threatening to stop all women at the border to make sure they weren't 'escaping' to another state for an abortion! Regardless of the very repressive times back then (not that much better now), I still managed to get through it okay.

Oh dear with the planes @Mazarita. I can see how sometimes that would bother you, even if you have been able to adjust over time. The Castle is a great movie 😁

It would have been so hard going through what you did at that time. I find some of it quite disturbing and difficult to get my head around. Its mind blowing how much everything varies between states and how difficult it makes it for people to navigate. I'm thinking that you may not have had a medication option, which is something that has come up as an option for me. I was reading about what it took for the drugs to be on the PBS and what it takes for GPs and pharmacists to be able to provide them. It's all a bit bonkers really.

Anyway. How are you feeling about today? Up for sharing about your yesterday?

Re: Just checking in.

Yesterday was really good, as I mentioned, @CheerBear. Didn't get started out of bed until midday though.

Close to first thing, I did some video editing and felt some small progress on this difficult project. Still don't know if it's going to be finished to my satisfaction yet, but pressing on in the hopes of something clicking into place as I go. In any case, I am enjoying the process of it more as I am going along. I don't mind experimenting even if nothing of it is shared in the end. Mostly I trust that it gives me more experience and ideas for next time.

After I'd finished that, I started thinking about a beach walk. It was touch and go pretty much to the final second, but I got myself out there and had my first walk for quite some time. So good to have my bare feet in the salt water where the waves lap the shore. A beautiful cloudless day, gorgeous blue green colours in a calm ocean.

Then when I got home I felt even better. Talked to mum on the phone again. I'm ringing her every couple of days lately since she's been struggling with depression. She was upbeat yesterday and seems really happy to be hearing from me more regularly, and I'm liking the more contact too.

Then various home jobs, can't remember them now, but helped me feel more positive too.

Later C went out to a mate's place and I took the opportunity to redye my hair (long overdue), shower (first in a week!) and give myself a foot treatment. The self care was lovely, as was the jazz music I had playing throughout. Then some more video editing and other good stuff.

A really good day.

Re: Just checking in.

That sounds so great @Mazarita 😊 Ear to ear smile reading about it. I have been holding back asking about the beach walk as I knew you'd get there when you were able to. So good to hear you did ❤

Theres something about music during times like you had yesterday (during anytime probaby) and how it can really add to an act of self-care.

Go you 🙂❤

Thanks, @CheerBear. It's so nice to get support for the good times too.

Is it another quiet day where you are (well as quiet as it can be with three children)?

Re: Just checking in.

It's so great to share in and read about the good times @Mazarita 😊

I think it will be a quiet day here. I'm looking at my car knowing it probably hasn't enjoyed not being driven lately and scared of eight legged creatures that may have taken residence in it. That's goal one for the day. Then washing and groceries on the list. I'd like to be really prepared for this week as far as meals and food goes at least. The sparkly tree goes up next weekend so if I feel really inspired I could pull out the (way too huge) collection of Christmas stuff and rid it of any creepy crawlies too. Enough to keep me busy but not anything I really need to stretch myself too much over if I dont want to.

Is the book launch still your plan today?

And a morning to you @Faith-and-Hope ❤👋

Re: Just checking in.

Sounds like a nice, practical day ahead, @CheerBear, with no pressure, and the chance to just enjoy having your house be your own again.

Yes, book launch today. Looking forward to it. Will be a challenge on the social level, glad to be stretching myself more in that way, even if I need some recovery time afterwards.

I think I'd better get some more sleep before getting up to get ready for that a bit later. Relatively early leaving time to get down there to the country town from here.

Thanks for another lovely chat. Love and good vibes for your day.
