Thanks @Faith-and-Hope I love the picture too
I am actually not surprised he has an eating disorder just by the way you describe him and also his personality make up too would make him susceptible to having an eating disorder. I can see how it has developed over time and it makes perfect sense how you describe it. I do know you worry about his health and the impact it is having on him long term.
I do have some understanding of what you are going through and WH mindset because we might be similar to certain degree if that makes sense. I too have OCD traits and perfectionism. I know it must be hard on you and it must impact everyone in the family through him being absent and emotional unavailable because of his obsession with exercise and food.
When I had my eating disorder it started at the end of year 12 and it lasted for about two years but I was heavily involved in sport and I surfed 6 hours at a time and I was very restrictive of my food. I never really saw that at the time but I do now. I think I was going though a tough period at that time. I think I do understand a little of what is happening with WH.
I just hope we all your sakes it does not take something really serious for him to realize what he is doing for him to make changes or more importantly for him to see he as a problem. I wish I could suggest something to help and any case you have probably thought of it anyway.
I am glad I have changed programs too - I am not very creative I do enjoy coloring in and writing but that is not what the program is about and plus I was getting really bored being there I was not very engaged in the program. I think I had too much time to think.
I hope appleblossom enjoys her volunteering too.
