Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

Hi @Former-Member

Thanks for enquiring after me. My husband is good but my daughter is a work in progress. To describe one of the stressors she causes:- When she was having an episode due to ex's abuse she flew into a rage and smashed her car up. To this day she is still driving this car like it and the wheel can come off at any time. We have pleaded with her to have it fix and offered to pay half the expenses, but she keeps putting it off. Instead she spends her money on clothes and more tattoos.

I said to her yesterday if she does'nt be responsible and fix the car I am ringing up the police to defect it. This would cost her her job. She said she will do it, but with her mood swings who knows. She is nearly 21 and there is nothing I can do. This is just one of the stressors I live with - and it is very dangerous and draining. I take it one moment, day at a time. But it can do ones head in.

Despite this I still cross stitch, volunteer and see my friends weekly. The stress pushes me to give it up - as it overwhelms but I resist and keep pushing uphill. That is where I am at. I am strong at the moment but she has to become more responsible regardless if she suffers MI as there are consequences in this world. And I am daily trying to get this through to her. This is my plight and one day I hope things to improve for all of us. Not easy.

How are you going? Hugs ❤️🤗

Im so pleased hubby is good again. You have one of the hardest jobs...to be a mother of a child with the MI your daughter has and all the rebellion and anger and rage that comes with it. I think you are doing remarkably well. It is really hard to teach our kids anything at this age regardless I think. Mine seem to have to learn the hard way. They don't take much of what I say in at all and then a year or two later work it out themselves. I was and still very much like that I'm ashamed to say.

I'm so glad you have such a strong sense of self preservation against the odds. I know that one day you will be able to look back at this part of your life and be so grateful it changed for the better at some point. I'm probably ignorant but to me it feels like your daughter living this way is unsustainable and at one point she'll work it out and have to own it and face it. I just wish for your sake the ride until then didn't have to be so hard and painful.

Thinking of you and wishing for a peaceful week for you and hubby

Ive omitted me because I've been on my own ride and am currently probably prefer not to talk too much about me. I've just had a rocky streak, this morning I'm ok though.

💜🤗💐

What you wrote above @Former-Member is my vision, my dream. Looking back at these hard times having survived in better times. That is what gives me the strength to get through. You have a beautiful way with expression and there you displayed enormous insight and intuition. Listen to it as it will serve you well. You are wiser than you think.

My daughter will have to learn the hard way. I try and loose myself in my cross stitch. I have just about finished my huge Angel - will put a photo up when finished 😄 I like being actively involved in creating beautiful artwork because when life is ugly I can counteract it this way. Looking at something positive, peaceful and beautiful.

I can understand you not wanting to talk about what you are going through presently - I do that a lot when I see there is no obvious answer... other times I will talk as it helps not only to offload but to get another's perspective like I did from you, and it did really help give hope. Thank you @Former-Member xxxx
