Depressed and depleted

Depressed and depleted

Hi everyone,

I am feeling really depressed and depleted in my relationship at the moment and I don't feel like I have much energy to deal with the relationship anymore. I haven't felt like I have had much stability in the relationship for the past 10 months. My partners moods and behaviours have been all over the place all the time and I haven't known what to expect from her from one day to the next. This has led to me having pretty extreme levels of anxiety and the feeling of constantly walking on eggshells. The relationship has been full of constant communication breakdowns and when I have tried to tell her how I have been feeling or how certain things have made me feel she just gets angry and flips everything around on me. She shuts down and doesn't communicate a lot. I feel really depressed and disconnected from her at the moment and I'm struggling to relax and to get back to feeling normal. I think it's because I'm now so hypervigilent I'm always trying to prepare for a change in her behaviour. I don't know whether I can keep going like this or if things will ever change.

Re: Depressed and depleted

@Hopesparkles1 There's a really great lecture by Brene Brown on Netflix, but there's also YouTube videos probably. I'm not sure, I usually rely on my psychologist for psychology tips since she's an expert and knows me better, and slow and steady is the best pace.

definitely slow and steady is best.

I also was directed recently to just look up Attachment Theory by Belby and even just on wikipedia it is a great place to start.

My advice would be to stay away from the 90 sec Tik Tok psychology, or any instagram memes about anything. Stick to the experts.

Also, there are resources in and around the forum here, and some archived threads that contain some pretty good stuff most likely, just have a search around and read some experiences, and if anything it will spend time, distract you and hopefully make you tired.

Otherwise, I'm here, but I'm not an expert, I'm just a guy who takes heavy medication.

@Melbcoffeesnob

Thanks for saying hello 😊 You're in Vic too! Thank you, having people to talk to on here is helping.

I am a bit of a swiftie but not a die hard one haha so I do like to listen to her music. I have a few more eps of a TV show that I might catch up on.

I definitely am exhausted and emotional. And not knowing what is going to come next is hard. Whether it be the no communication or some type of reactive outburst. I feel she would rather me leave (break up) than deal with things which hurts but at the same time I don't know if I have it in me to put up with anymore.

How are you travelling?

Ah yes I think I know the one. I've heard her books are good too just haven't read any.

Yeah, I'll hopefully be starting with a psych soon, I have been waiting for months 😞

I know the system is under a lot of pressure though, more than ever.

Thank you for all your reccs 🙂 I don't have tiktok actually so that's probably a good thing haha but I do look things up on instagram when I'm finding I need some validation & clarity with the relationship and how I'm feeling. That I'm not crazy basically lol.

It's good to know that there are people to talk to who have or are experiencing similar things to me and that I'm not alone.

@Hopesparkles1 Sure, you're most welcome, any time.

You are most definitely not alone if you do not choose to be. There are people who care, you just need to know to not stop looking or settling for unhealthy substitutes. Kindness breeds kindness in return.

Thank you 😊 @deshift

There has been no form of communication from my partner other than a text last night about the cat 😞 I just have to wait. And it's hard to respond without being angry or frustrated when she finally does decide to communicate.

Re: Depressed and depleted

@Hopesparkles1 You probably are already, but please look after yourself. You've been through a lot, and it is natural to feel way off your normal base line. Do some things that you think might help, or even better find out about some things that have helped others in a similar circumstance.

Then you will be ready to communicate more effectively when the time comes.

Take care

@deshift

Yeah. I'll try my best 🙂 my dr told me yesterday that what I've been experiencing is a form of dv/emotional abuse and I'm starting to think she's right.

@AussieRecharger

Hi,

I'm going okay. I'm away at the moment seeing my family for a few weeks. Decided not to have Christmas with my partner this year.

The last month has been extremely challenging.

How are you going?
