No self control

No self control

and it’s shameful

I go to the supermarket then eat a whole bag of chips in my car in the car park; drive home then hide the evidence, like a fat pig

actually disgusting

and I dunno know why but I have been doing this on and off for years

Re: No self control

It sad to see that probably because of your schooling and life experiences, you feel you need to mask/hide neurodiversity.

@ArraDreaming , I'm not sure if you realise, but I absolutely celebrate ND. I think it's awesome to be different. I'm 'different'. I used to want to fit in with everyone, but ended up miserable.

I prefer to be who I am. And I love it.

You are awesome as you are.

Re: No self control

well I guess I probably didn’t really hide it or mask well when I was a kid I probably tried to at times, but that could be why I struggled so much.
i was looking back through some old papers once and the comment on an assessment about me said sometibg along the lines of

“Has no friends, lonely at school, peers are scared to play and dont know how he will react/play”
i think that was grade 2
but you know… nobody saw trauma or being nd (I wasn’t diagnosed that young),, I was just an angry little kid with no friends

Re: No self control

Things have come such a long way since @ArraDreaming - thank God! It is moving towards being more inclusive. Still has a way to go though. But you wont see those types of comments anymore.

No self control

That gets me real fired up @tyme we’re teachers not trained to deal with kids like me back then…. they gave me and my siblings toast at school so we didn’t go hungry and that was the extent of their ‘support’
now I look at my sons school and all the things they offer, and they offer some of that stuff to every kid so it’s inclusive too
We only just met with them this week because he is needing support in certain areas and what they can offer these days is pretty amazing, my partner she always worked in this kind of area and yeah it’s definitely come a long way

I'm glad you were able to meet with your son's teacher and they can better support him. Does he still have the hat? @ArraDreaming

Re: I’m actually a fat peice of shit with no self control

he does but it has slowly been coming off more often @tyme probably more often then not which is nice, even been left at home once without it being a big deal, growth!

No self control

I can see how the anxiety could have affected his learning. It would've taken a while to settle in. I remember when he was in Kinder during covid where he really struggled. @ArraDreaming He has certainly made a lot of growth!

Re: No self control

so proud @tyme
but also such a mini me, not in looks but in character, we have some of the same challenges and that’s probably why we get on like a house on fire when we go out together just the two of us @tyme

Re: No self control

That is such a special bond @ArraDreaming . That's always good to remember. You ARE his dad. It sounds like he looks up to you so much.
