Something’s not right

Help! I got a call from the hospital saying Lifeline called them saying I was threatening my landlord over a rent increase - but I don't rent!

Help! I got a call from the hospital saying Lifeline called them saying I was threatening my landlord over a rent increase - but I don't rent!

I got a call from the Acute Care Team checking in on me because they received a call from Lifeline saying that I had threatened my landlord over a rent increase. But this is not true - I don't rent and don't have a landlord (have a mortgage) and haven't rented in almost 10 years. Not to mention I would never say anything like that!

I told the Acute Care Team person about this but they just said they would "write down my side of the story". I even offered to show them my mortgage papers and address, but they said no. They also refused to give me any other information on the call (what was said, when it came in, etc).

I am worried as mine and my partner's jobs are in security and require government clearance.

What do I do?

Hi @Jlol

That sounds like a very strange and scary experience. I wonder whether some landlord phoned lifeline saying they had been threatened by their tenant and somehow that got mixed up with your details? I don't think you need to do anything about it. Hopefully they sort out the mix up themselves, but if it did happen to go any further - you can easily prove that it is not true as you don't have a landlord.
