Something’s not right

Help! I got a call from the hospital saying Lifeline called them saying I was threatening my landlord over a rent increase - but I don't rent!

Help! I got a call from the hospital saying Lifeline called them saying I was threatening my landlord over a rent increase - but I don't rent!

I got a call from the Acute Care Team checking in on me because they received a call from Lifeline saying that I had threatened my landlord over a rent increase. But this is not true - I don't rent and don't have a landlord (have a mortgage) and haven't rented in almost 10 years. Not to mention I would never say anything like that!

I told the Acute Care Team person about this but they just said they would "write down my side of the story". I even offered to show them my mortgage papers and address, but they said no. They also refused to give me any other information on the call (what was said, when it came in, etc).

I am worried as mine and my partner's jobs are in security and require government clearance.

What do I do?

Relax.

If lifeline contacted them this means they are implying you rang them with details of your phone number and told them about your interaction with the landlord

Do you remember making the call?

If not then it sounds like you might have suffered from a psychotic event. Are you being treated for psychosis?

Lifeline and the hospital have a duty to protect your privacy so this will all blow over

Hey @Jlol that sounds like a really distressing situation you're experiencing. Seems there might have been some kind of mix up. I wonder if it might give you some piece of mind to follow up to Lifeline feedback/complaints: https://www.lifeline.org.au/about/contact-us/

@ScottLangrehr just a reminder to be mindful that we don't know the full context of @Jlol 's here, so need to be careful not to jump to conclusions. Thanks for jumping in to support.

Hi @ScottLangrehr I have called LL, but not about this. More about the stress of being in a DV situation at home (where the other party is the perpetrator - see my previous posts if you don't believe me).

I don't have psychosis.

And, as mentioned, I do not have a landlord or rent.

My best guess is that someone else called and our numbers got mixed up.

I hope you are feeling less anxious.

Sorry about suggesting you might have experienced psychosis without knowing the full background.

I hope you realise that your fear of being reported to some government register is not a possible outcome.

Happy to help with any issue you might be suffering from.

I've lived with Bipolar II to my current age of 58, so have some lived experience under my belt.

The number one rule to remember is that you are not alone, most suffers of some sort of mental health issue find great pleasure in helping others thru their journey.

And the SANE team have dedicated their live to offer help to those in need.

We are part of the same tribe and together we can thrive

Thanks @ScottLangrehr

I got a call back from the Acute Care Team. They said the police actually called the hospital and the hospital called them, which means LL called the police directly.

So I really hope I'm not on some government register!

I wish I could just get answers!

@Jlol

Yesterday my counsellor told me NOT to tell people about MH stuff cos of workd and other gvot possible issues. We had been talking about my son. I have also read about many NDIS issues about the amount of information floating about and intrusion and lack of privacy.

Tbh I am very concerned generally about the overuse of data ... and the ease of mix up ... and lack of accountability. I really hope this situation does not blow up out of control.

If it was someone else ... and it sounds possible to me ... LL need to be aware and correct situation.

Thanks @Appleblossom.

LL are not being of help. This is the reply I got from them:

"We appreciate your feedback and your time to reply to our query. Without the event details there will not be a possibility to be able to contact the crisis supporter worker who spoke to you and therefore unable to follow up on your query."

But I cannot give them the event details, because I did not make the call! I literally don't know the time and date of this call. I explained this in my email but they ignored it.

@Jlol Something does not add up

They should have records and be able to work back from the numbers and notes ... which case was connected with call to you. Should be digital traces.

@Appleblossom that's what I would have thought. Surely it would be easy to see the last call made by my number?

@Jlol

If they wanted to they could trace it, but maybe they would have to think.

I do hope nothing untoward happens to you due to their mix up.

It is a concern the number of muddles I have seen due to too hasty reliance on tek.
