Hi @Pete1974 . Welcome to the forums! 🙂

I can relate to your quest for love and your struggles therein. I haven't been caught up by an internet scam, specifically, but I have been taken advantage of by others in my quest to find a soulmate.

It's very difficult finding help with this, I've found. There's a lot of talk out there by the so-called "experts" about the modern loneliness crisis, but still not movement on any system to actually remedy it. What I wouldn't give for a class of therapists who set their compatable lonely patients up with one another as romantic pairs. Seems like such a service should not only exist, but also be doing a bumper trade in this day and age. Can't fathom why it doesn't; but, as far as I can find, it just simply doesn't.

@Pete1974No problem. 🙂

Just following on, I just did a live chat on another prominent mental health support website. (I don't think we're aloud to name names on here, but think of a former female Prime Minister and you'll be on the right track). I went on there asking for directions to a service that sets lonely people up together as romantic partners. The councillor seemed mystified by the request, before responding that they couldn't offer any help with my query.

"We can support you with the depression this is causing you, however, I can't suggest a place where you can get romantic partners"

Makes sense, I suppose. There's no market for pain management when a cure for the ailment is readily available.

Edit: Sorry to be a wet blanket. I'm just lost, and it's hard to be that way cheerfully, you know? Let me know if I'm just making things worse, and I'll bow out.

It really seems like there just isn't any help out there.

Hello @Pete1974, it certainly is lonely world we live in, but we just never know what others are actually feeling. Most put on a brave face for appearance sake, but I think that if we scratch the surface, many are feeling rather lost; even many in relationships. Take care of yourself and try new things. Friends come from across gender and age groups. Just start there, with acquaintances.
