Welcome and getting started

Lifelong survivor

Lifelong survivor

I am in my fifties, and spent fifty years traumatised, because it started when l was 2. Doctors tell me pain receptors in my brain are easily triggered because of high levels of stress hormones going through my body for so long. I deal with my mental health really well. But l have to be careful with my body. Sound familiar to anyone ?

Hi and welcome, @worldtree , it's good to have you here.

Congratulations on surviving 50 years with trauma, it's not easy, I know.

Do you have a trauma-informed counsellor? It sounds like you might, as you say you look after your mental health well 🙂

An important forum tip is if you type @ and then click on a name in the drop-down box, that person will get a notification and won't miss your reply.

I hope you find the forums supportive...

Hi @worldtree and welcome to the sane forums.

It's really good to hear that you deal with your mental health in a positive way.

My body does give me pain at times, but with mine it is linked back to my mental health.

Do you have any supports that you see on a regular basis?

Really looking forward to getting to know you better.

Re: Lifelong survivor

Hi @worldtree

sorry for what you have experienced. I get a lot of pain in my body too and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia many years ago. And while there is no exclusive link between fibromyalgia and childhood trauma, alot of people who have fibromyalgia do report a history of trauma of some kind.
