Winter/menopause
I'm really struggling with depression during winter. Am also going through menopause which has increased my anxiety. Anyone else feeling the same? Any tips?

Hi there @Kasia1
I'm one of the moderators here on the forums. Oooooh my, menopause increasing anxiety you say....I hear you loud and CLEAR! I went through this so bad. I was not sleeping, having severe panic attacks over the most minor of things and really not coping. My normal medication for anxiety was doing little. HRT literally saved me. I found out a lot of info from a FB group that I am now and admin for. It's an Australian only group and we have over 26000 members which shows how many women are troubled by symptoms. There are some amazing resources within that group BUT also there is a chat about perimenopause and menopause right here on the forums in a few week's time. One of the other moderators @amber22 is running it so can give a little more info for you around times etc.
Good on you for reaching out, it takes a lot of courage!

Hi again @Kasia1

Oh you poor thing, MHT hasn't helped! I changed my anxiety meds to help me and that has helped a lot. I also think I'm coming out of the other side now as my symptoms aren't as bad. I HOPE! I hope that may happen for you too soon. Do you have a close friend who you can chat to? My bestie was great for whingeing about menopause!

You might want to investigate getting HRT.
I'm on it well past menopause and it's great helping with low moods - feel a lot better . There are some really good products out there and the doctors appear to be swinging back to prescribing it. The study that was done on effects of HRT in the 90's was very flawed. Research suggests HRT is very effective to relieve hot flushes low moods etc especially for peri menopausal and menopausal women. It's about discussing g the risks and its about you/ us feeling better.

Hi @HIRDY
Totally with you on the HRT/MHT thing. It's damn amazing. Just adds back a bit of what we are losing while going through this. It has health benefits too - for me I have low bone density and it helps stabilise that. I'm wondering @Kasia1 if you are already on it, maybe talking to your health provider about tweaking the dose - worth a try?

Sorry to hear you are struggling through menopause. When I had it started getting hot flushes at random times during the day and night. One minute piling on clothes the next minute flicking them off! It did not last long however. There are progesterone natural creams you can use. I followed the work of Christiane Northrup who is a women's health pioneer and was able to transition smoothly into cronedom. I never took HRT. Heard lots of people promoting it however. Saw people I knew really struggling with menopause. For me I felt like it was a time of being initiated into a new phase of life even though that is not strongly recognised here. There was loss and sadness about my loss of reproductive capacity which required some measure of adjustment. My symptoms did not last for long and my menopause was relatively easy thankfully @Kasia1
