Life on an SSRI

Life on an SSRI

I recently started back on medication specifically anxiety medication for the first time in years

I wanted to write about the journey for me and maybe track my progress by writing about how its going.

it might help someone else who’s considering it, currently going through or has been before.

i don’t think I’m allowed to name what I’m taking but thats ok. this is mostly for me to just get it out of my head. I might even decide Im being too vulnerable and delete this thread, but lets give it a shot.

Re: Life on an SSRI

Agree with @tyme , meds just give you a bit of breathing space to work on yourself.

It’s easy to think “I feel better enough that I don’t need to do all that extra work”, but doing the extra work will take you from “coping” to “thriving”, and wouldn’t that be nice?

Glad you’re doing better @ArraDreaming , I think I’m over the “early side effect” hump too now. Noticed a slip backwards because I didn’t meditate for 2 days, straight away did a 20 minute session and felt excellent in the afternoon.

Re: Life on an SSRI

2 month update: I have been on this for just over 2 months now I feel like it was a rocky month or so but overall glad to have made this decision.
physically my symptoms have mostly all gone there’s a couple of things I just have to live with as part of this that my doctor said won’t change but most gone, and I feel like mentally my mind is clearer more often when I come across a problem i can come back from it a bit easier then before, still have lots of moments and up and down but things that throw before now don’t completley ruin my day/night/week etc
