Winter solstice

Winter solstice

Longest night of the year and the darkness and coldness have really hit. Things seem really bleak. I've been struggling for a long time and was pacing myself to this point but can't see beyond it. I'm safe but despairing. I'm trapped in a vortex of family dysfunction from earliest years and emotional pain, received and (mea culpa) inflicted. I can't help my closest sibling - all others are estranged - and I don't seem able to extricate myself from personal difficulties and dilemmas that at present ďefine me - I have no connections or other identity. I've lost faith in my mh team.

I guess the sun will rise tomorrow, and I'll keep taking one day at a time, but I can't envision a future, my future.

Re: Winter solstice

@Appleblossom glad you're home safe. Hope you got a lot out of all that musicking. Disappointing but not surprising you nemesis continues jockeying for position.

@AuntGlow there's no resolution about my eyes but I was told the onset of blindness in one eye that coincided with the last time I had this condition is unlikely to recur and to wait patiently for the pre-existing appointment in a month. It's not exactly reassuring.

I'm concerned for the cat as he'll be disoriented in the cattery and won't eat - sad to see his decline and distress.

I have severe anxiety about the next few days with stringent preparation before my hospital admission that may trigger a relapse. I'm already physically unwell. It's always interesting to see moderation in action, especially when it's inconsistent.

@tyme thanks. I'm a bit disappointed that you can't take on board my suggestions re responses to carers about possible psychosis in loved ones and will have to fully draft a response myself. I'm not up to it at present but will reflect on it when my physical and mentai health are better and I'm out of hospital. Hopefully I won't be needing follow-up procedures or treatment.

Re: Winter solstice

@Dimity good to hear from you. Sending warm supportive hugs with your upcoming time in hospital.

I had a good zoom tonight with a lovely friend colleague in the Carer Lived experience workforce. Tonic for my mood.

Hey @Dimity , There may be a bit of a misunderstanding because I AM taking on your feedback, and thus inviting you to work with us. This is an invitation. You are not oliged at all. I can ask others. I'm sorry if you felt I was asking you to fully draft a response yourself.

Other members have provided feedback about our response/templates, and hence we have worked with them to improve.

No stress. Feel free to park the idea. Hope your physical and mental health improves.

Goodness, the waiting must be very overwhelming. @Dimity 😔

One positive I am hearing is that they don't feel the same thing will reoccur? However, I can absolutely understand why this wouldn't feel as reassuring as it could.

Poor baby...

Your anxiety makes so much sense right now. I can hear there are an inordinate amount of stressors that have built up for you. Please know I am sending big hugs and healing energy your way.

We are here to listen to whatever comes up for you this week, alright? You don't have to do any of this completely alone. 💛

Re: Winter solstice

Thanks @AuntGlow . Actually I have no confidence in the optometrist's advice and feel I'm being gaslit.

The psychologist suggested I employ a friend of hers as a support worker. In the past I've had people through online platforms. At present it feels too complicated to set up. So I have noone helping with transport or other support this week, despite hospital policy.

Yes there's a lot of issues. I don'thave the spoons to deal with much in a day so I'm not addressing them..

I heard today I won't get the hospital results foe about a week.

@Dimity

I hope your transition to home goes smoothly. Is an uber a possibility? Are you able to pick up your cat on the way home?

Have you tried Mable? It is difficult starting up new support workers, but can be worth it.

Medical gaslighting is a serious issue. I know we shouldnt self diagnose, but what if that is necessary? I am glad I do have the internet, though ignorance can also be bliss.... hmmmm. I backed away from a Gp a few years ago, due to being gaslit. It was a shocking and awful experience.

I hope it unfolds reasonably. Let us know how it goes.

gentle hugs
