That's so brilliant you went shopping:) I still remember the first time I went shopping (I can only do tiny shops as anything bigger than a small bag I cant balance with sci) it was a really good feeling. Any gain is a gain though when you've gone from them telling you we don't know if you'll walk ever walk and you'll be going home in a chair, to only having to use a chair sometimes, pretty chuffed:)I use several types of assistive tech to mobilize but sometimes I just cant. I can't use my left leg very well as its paralyzed and has little feeling but I have my left toe. Weird that one but its a thing LOL.You have so much going on as well!!! That joint condition sounds really challenging. No wonder you've had a rough ride for 22 years.
Every 6-9mths!!! woah the things we do to live our best life. I get what you mean about patches i hated it at first took it off then thought I was not being fair on myself or my GP id I didn't at least give it a good go, a week later all the side effects went and now I can get on with my rehab and training for my Cbrace. Not sure if you know what that one is... it's a microprocessor hydraulic brace it will help me walk longer and better. It's coming very soon they are making it. It's taken a year of trial, casting, laser fitting, and waiting. I will also get an aquiline from the process which might allow me to kayak Again one day (its a waterproof KAFO). The Cbrace is a fancy KAFO (knee ankle foot orthosis and thinks like a brain for my leg sort of.Apparently it knows where the knee is 100 times a second or something. I can activate it because I have 3/5 quad use and 2/5 hip flexor and 2/5 knee on the left muscle but cant lift it against gravity easily alot of the time. I can in hydro though.
It is really hard explaining to people how you can have incomplete paraplegia but be able to ambulate on elbow crutches and walker not just wheelchair.
I just did a virtual lab tour of Griffith uni QLD and saw what the Perry cross foundation has helped fund, they are building nerve bridges to help sci people with stem cells from the nose! AMAZING STUFF. It is about to go to clinical trial but they have to raise the last $3.5 million to do it. Great to chat to you and I am very pleased for you you are getting a win. Look after that pain though. People with chronic life-changing conditions deserve a win:)
