feeling stuck

feeling stuck

I don't know what to do or where to get help. i've been working with my CPTSD stuff with my psychologist but i'm not able to see her to August now. I feel like I need someone to talk things through with but don't have anyone I can talk with that has an understanding of mental health stuff. i've been getting triggered at work and feel stuck in how to prevent it. Part of my job is sitting with people while they are watching a video, so I can't really talk with them or distract myself. Whenever I have too much time to think or my brains not busy doing things I get anxious and that often triggers the trauma memories. The problem I have is I need to be watching videos with people every week and i'm getting more trauma memories and feeling like i'm back in an unsafe place, it feels like i'm going to be hurt again. I was using my phone to distract myself but I got into trouble for having my phone and I didn't explain about the anxiety and my need to be doing something instead of just sitting there. Now I don't know what to do to reduce the anxiety or even not have the trauma memories come up. I'm feeling alone and stuck and just don't know what to do. Sorry if it doesn't make sense I think I just needed to be able to talk about it.

@tyme

I feel like setting those small goals is a good thing to focus on. I tend to have an all or nothing attitude which is making me feel worse when I don’t achieve my goals.

@Former-Member

I think being on the forums could be helpful. I just need to push past the anxiety I have about not being good enough to support others. I feel like I may say the wrong things. I’m hoping that if I start posting more the anxiety will reduce.

Thank you

@Former-Memberand @tyme for taking the time to reply

Re: feeling stuck

Ah-ha! Well that's why you are only allowed to set 'achievable' goals @peps . And NO, it's not cheating 🙂

I'm off for tonight. I'll chat another day.

Re: feeling stuck

Hi @peps

You are all or nothing.

I am black and white.

Both are hard.

@tyme is 100% correct.

Set small goals.

I write a list and add and delete each day. Pay bills, mow lawn, call telstra etc.

As l do one, l celebrate it with a sit down.

Funny you say you may say the wrong thing on the forums. Me too. I do not want to upset anyone. I will but not on purpose and others will upset me, but not on purpose.

The risk is worth it because this is a lived experience forum. Hopefully others can read how one person progresses even if they do not agree.

Just check before sending but the forum is better with people like you with your lived experience letting others know what is working for you.

Re: feeling stuck

Hey @tyme

I'm doing ok today. I'm struggling to get the energy to do the housework that needs to be done.

Thanks for checking in, how are you?
