“I don’t need people” state of mind

“I don’t need people” state of mind

Lately I’ve found myself withdrawing more and more into myself. I’m not sure if this is a trauma response or maybe I am burnt out because things were rough for so long. The recent Uni assignments plus mixed episode (funny how the brain can experience depressive and hypo manic symptoms all at once) has left me emotionally exhausted and lousy. Like I am in a better place now, I no longer feel like ending myself, or look for ways how I could do it. I feel a lack of motivation to socialise, even come on these forums or call helplines when I start feeling anxious. Like I rather just depend on myself, because we live alone, deal with things alone and leave this world alone. I just don’t feel bothered either, I rather just do things to distract myself. Maybe I’m feeling the anxiety more because I didn’t sleep well, you gotta thank the earth for that good shake last night

Hi @creative_writer

I am proud of you for calling again. I support that decision. I do the same so supporting because it works for me.

Glad you got some relief from the call.

I understand the emotional drain.

Float away and hopefully dream of tonight and then tomorrow being a better day.

Remember there is often good mindfulness benefit in the calls

@Former-Member, reaching out for help is hard and exhausting too.

I guess I should also try to stop trying to be “normal”. My brain is just wired differently, and I just need to learn to be okay with that

Re: “I don’t need people” state of mind

Hi @creative_writer

NORMAL. Now that is a wide variable isn't it.

Be you.

Find people who like you

I said in another post, if you can speak as well as you write, you would be president of the Debate team.

I understand we do not say much or write much to protect ourselves.

I would focus on one good person at Uni. I did say, at the Church and wherever I go, I look out for the loner. They are interesting and I chat more.

I hope you can focus on getting your clever mind to accept you have the topics and information and just move forward. The past we learn from. We cannot change it.

@Former-Member, it’s not just about the past, I’m not neurotypical, but then I suppose many people are neurodivergent too

Hi @creative_writer

All good.

I am going to see what Thai meals I have in my freezer. Freezer is so full

Are you having Halva again?

Do you chat to your sister or parents?

Do you have any pets? I do not

Re: “I don’t need people” state of mind

@Former-Member, I had fish with vegetables today. Do you know which Thai meal you will be having?

I do talk to my siblings and parents on a regular basis, I just don’t talk to them about mental health much.

We have been thinking about adopting a little kitty but haven’t gotten around to it. Do you want to have a pet?

Re: “I don’t need people” state of mind

Hi @creative_writer

I had thai curry chicken, vegetables and rice. I help a friend. They cook for me. I keep saying too much. They do not listen. So my mind has to accept they mean well and just accept it.

Daily events are mind tests. How we deal with it.

Had a dog. Would like one but i enjoy no commitments.

Reason I asked you about talking to family.

Do you know why you battle talking to "people" I am sure your family, or parents may not have agreed with all you say. I understand cultural events.

Why do you battle speaking?

Why get anxious?

Any ideas?

Do you want to work on being more vocal or do you prefer to just avoid it?

Re: “I don’t need people” state of mind

@Former-Member, curry chicken and vegetables sound nice. It’s nice for your friend to cook for you. Do you eat Thai food pretty regularly?

I have bad social anxiety, so I fear judgement and never feel fully emotionally safe with people, I am afraid of not being able to connect with people, and I get really bad sensory overload. I think I do need to learn to be more social, it’s just out of my comfort zone

I’m trying to make sense of things, has my dignity and innocence been stolen because of SA? Or is it something that is ingrained in us by society and isn’t true? I feel a sense of loss because I had never experienced something like this before

Re: “I don’t need people” state of mind

Hi @creative_writer

To me, I feel that it is ingrained in us by society and is not at all true. Many of the 'stories' I've told myself are based on society's expectations. You have not lost your dignity at all. You are not broken. There may be things you need to work on healing, or things you need to work at shedding or casting off. But you are whole and beautiful as you are. I feel that story of 'loss of dignity and innocence' is one you can be confident to stop telling yourself. I hope that makes sense. And that is simply my take on it...not gospel as such. But I hope it helps x
