Still here??

Still here??

I am amazed that I am still meeting people and posting here about all sorts of topics dear to my heart.

Its nearly 18 months, and I have been online most days, having only a few days off.

Thank you all you have responded to me or taught me about your lives and your loves and your coping methods.

Today I am tired in a lovely healthy out doorsy way.

I have finished the London based caring for psychosis course, but need to obssess less about mental health issues for a while.

I need to throw myself into my music and my new volunteering role at the zoo and try and keep level for my son.

Dont worry I will be back.

Re: Still here??

I had a good session with psychologist today.

Discussed the Catastrophe Scale as a tool.

She told me that it should never be used to miinimise, which is what happened to me at a reputable facility for MH for children by a pdoc. Hmmmm. She was not getting paid to do that, easy as it is to blame mothers.

I learned a new word on my browsing of the net ...

macaronic

... love it

@Faith-and-Hope @Adge @Decadian and ALL who care about me.

Going to choir practise tonight.

CHEERS ALL

Re: Still here??

Glad to hear that your session went well today with your psychologist. The catastrophe scale is good, though i find it hard to use scales and attach numbers to things/emotions/responses...
Take care and i hope that choir rehearsal is enjoyable tonight. Take care

Re: Still here??

This new psychologist had it up on the wall and I did not engage on the issue til she had proved to me that she was working well with me and not just going to use it to put me down.

It has taken a while ie 2 years for her to prove that to me. She does throw in silly superficial comments sometimes, but she actually engaged with the CATT team when she thought I was at risk and I was at serious risk, but the CATT team were very dismissive of her to me whilst I was in that crisis 9 months ago.

Not a good reflection on our CATT team. They need to up their professionality and ethics.

I was a silent little girl once, who submitted to everything and everyone, not anymore.

I took her on with a focus on my caring role as paid for by CarersVictoria and also do sessions with her under Wattle Place for me personally. The funding has come late in life.. last few years ...

Next month I am going to try some exposure therapy and go to the same place where I had some big end it all plans last September.

We shall see how it works out, but this time I am going back to going there with best intentions for SELF as life in general ... at least that is current plan ... hope it remains in place.

Its been my best strategy so far .. look at situation calmly and coolly when I finally get the opportunity.

I think it is overuse of scales and numbers that has permeated psychological practice recently that has put a lot of people off. Their needs to be an empathic, emotional component which is not about reducing everything to numbers ...

I'm not familiar with that catastrophe scale, or with that macaronic term...

I do have issues with some scales & labels, as I don't see how they can quantify emotions or trauma experiences etc.

I'm glad that you feel taken seriously & not minimised by your psychologist.

Choir practice sounds good, lovely music.

My Mum has beening singing in choirs for several decades.

I used to sing in choirs myself, & I sang solo sometimes at some big church functions (many years ago).

Re: Still here??

I understand and accept the need to sometimes just fill out a K10, but that should not be the limit of tools in practice.

The role of church in society has changed so much in recent times. I am sure you had a good voice. I started off as organist.

I have only sung in choirs for about a decade. I came to it late in life and had my first solo last year, which was actually part of a quintet, but a great challenge and experience as the others were all young budding pros.

Some lil ole choir ladies are scary ...

We are doing Carmina Burana.

Macaronic .. refers to a mixture of languages in a text... it has a mix of Latin and medieval German

Re: Still here??

Potato eaters were mentioned in choir last night.

I think I am getting to the bottom of things. Took some digging tho.

Carmina Burana, I vaguely remember that title (although nothing of what's in it)....
