Reading has become weird

Reading has become weird

So over the last week or so I have noticed that when I am reading something on my phone or when reading a book, words have started appearing weirdly. Like they have depth to them. Almost 3D like. No they are very 3D and very deep.

I have no previous diagnosis of dyslexia or anything, and I have no other symptoms. Just that weird thing and thought I would ask you wonderful folk.

Re: Reading has become weird

@Bow is it some type of hallucination?

im leaning towards that as if you’re reading things should appear as they are

Hey @Bow , have you spoken to your ECT team about it? I'm wondering if it is a side effect of ECT?

I have no idea @Former-Member perhaps it’s something that I should ask my pdoc about.

Because if it's not a physical eye issue, then it can be more a neurological issue @Bow - it's best to talked to your team.

Hope you don't feel too stressed about it.

If there's a sort of shadowing effect @Bow it could be a type of double vision... an optometrist could tell you. You might notice it with a small bright light too.

It doesn’t feel like double vision @Dimity

I just mentioned it to my nurse, she thought it was weird! And said to mention it to my pdoc.

Bit annoyed that my pdoc didn’t come around and see me today. He was the pdoc giving ECT this morning, so we chatted then, I told him what leave I wanted over the weekend and he was going to write it in my file. That was going to be it, but I did ask the nurse to let him know that I wanted to see him again properly, as I wanted to ask him about one of my meds but obviously they didn’t pass the message on cause the nurse that I spoke to about my reading…. She said that she spoke to him and he said it’s probably a vision thing. So now I need to wait til Tuesday I think he is in next…. To ask him about this reading thing and about my nightmare meds. I sure hope he wrote my leave in my file!

Sorry to hear about your 3D vision, and your pdoc not coming round @Bow . Really hope you're not too anxious about it and can park that worry till Tuesday 💜

Re: Reading has become weird

@Bow , just my 2 cents, I had some weird memory issues on meds, but no hallucinations, plus the recurring anxiety attacks.

I find the whole world of MH medication so rudimentary and poorly understood by the 'experts'. Telling them of my side effects which were refuted by my psychiatrist but soundly confirmed by my psychologist.
