Welcome and getting started

I’m new here

I’m new here

Hiya, hoping I can connect with others who are struggling. I live a very isolated life because of past trauma. Just want to experience some kind of kinship with others like me. I am taking anti anxiety medication, never been hospitalised.

Re: I’m new here

Only EMDR at the moment @Little_Leopard, it’s worked for me but haven’t done all the memories yet. It’s embarrassing & humiliating when you attack people & then have to apologise, but inevitably get cancelled. My sons have trouble accepting the anger, 2 of them are great & supportive, but one has chronic anger issues himself, he modelled his behaviour on me. I’m a pitiful human being!

Re: I’m new here

Hi @Ann4 ,

I’ve sort of isolated myself from people because of past trauma. Trust is a huge issue for me. When I meet or see people, I automatically go into a negative gear and point out all the negatives- I think this is a way of coping with perceived threat.

i hate it at times, yet I also see it protects me from further hurt.

i can’t say people understand me though. I’d anything, they misunderstand why I do it - and it hurts like hell.

You are not alone @Ann4 . I feel I’m in that place too.

Thanks @BPDSurvivor - it’s hard when u continue to embarrass yourself with outbursts! I don’t know how to control it - distraction can work. I just want to cry afterwards….

Hey @WendyGB ,

Welcome to the forums. It sounds like BPD is part of your life too? (As with many others here too).

Re: I’m new here

I agree @WendyGB . So embarrassing. It’s like an adult in foetal position crying their eyes out over something so minute eg someone didn’t say ‘hi’ to me.

But honestly, if they only knew the internal turmoil a borderline is experiencing, they might get it… unfortunately, most don’t get it.

Oh @WendyGB @Ann4 , at least we know we are not alone.

Re: I’m new here

Hey @Ann4 @WendyGB @Little_Leopard , How is everyone here tonight?

It's been so cold here so I'm in my warm bed with my electric blanket on.

I had a good day today. How about you all?

Re: I’m new here

Hey @BPDSurvivor

so glad you had a good day today.
I can’t remember much of my day but this morning was stressful. Im also in bed with the heater on. Nothing better than a warm bed in the cold weather.

Freezing

Cold morning in Melbourne, I’m going put the electric blanket back on my bed. Nice to see snow on the mountains (ABC news)
