Something’s not right

On the outside looking in

On the outside looking in

This sounds weird because it is. Having spent the last month adapting to longer hours and a much heavier workload I found it necessary to look after me before attending to the needs of others.

This has not been a result of my being unwell but my way of remaining well. However it seems to have backfired on me, particularly in relation to my attempts to re-engage with the forum. I'm clearly blowing this situation completely out of proportion however it has been troubling me since Friday night. I wasn't going to say anything but since my feelings of disquiet have continued unabated it's obviously important to give these feelings a voice.

This afternoon I've finally caught up with all the posts but found myself not bothering to reply to any because it seemed that there wasn't much point.

I realise that these are feelings only and not reality but it seems as if I don't particularly belong here. Perhaps I never have because I am no longer experiencing active episodes. At this time you could say that I've recovered. Whether this will become a permanent state of affairs or not only time will tell. I was even thinking that I'm being punished because I am well.

Yes this is really stupid thinking but it doesn't make it any less real.

I'm not going anywhere. @Redraw wrote this evening "Can't take the guilt, can't be the bad guy, can't let someone hurt when I can help"

That post encapsulates Kurra @Former-Member. 🎶💕🎶

Re: On the outside looking in

Oh @Kurra i just read this. I think it is really hard to come back on when you've been absent a while. It kind of feels like everyone's moved on without you. That's how I felt. I think I said it once before that we need you here as much if not more than being unwell because you offer hope that things can get better and you have so much insight into recovery. You've made a huge difference to me and whilst I know I'm in a slump having you around lightens my load and the atmosphere here on some of the threads as well. We know you have so much experience in things which many of us are unable to connect to. I guess it will take time to adjust to everything in your life with schedules. I also have not been myself lately and struggling to keep up or say hello to everyone like I once did. I'm doing my best but I'm very hit and miss so I'm really sorry if I haven't said hello for a bit but you're never far in my thoughts. Sending hugs to a most valuable member on the forum💜🤗💐🤗💜

Oh @Former-Member there's no need for any apologies. I realise that you've been doing it tough but honestly you've been managing so well despite your many difficulties.

I do feel guilty that I haven't been there for my family here as much as I would have liked to be and ridiculously I have periods when I feel guilty that I am well when so many others are struggling. Stupid thinking! I know that.
Take care lass 🎶💕💕 🎶

Re: On the outside looking in

Yep agree that the negative thinking isn't right. Please don't ever feel guilty for being well @Kurra.

On the outside looking in it feels strange when others say I'm doing well. I feel less like myself that at any given point before in my life. I'm struggling with the seriousness and intensity. I used to have a sense of humour and need light hearted fun in my dark but it seems so much more dark to me but it doesn't appear that way to anyone else which is freaking me out a bit. Sorry off track a bit and just acknowledging that.

Anyway keep doing what makes you well happy and fulfilled. It is 😎 to have you back.

Re: On the outside looking in

Others do see things that we fail to recognise. Don't allow this to freak you out. Often we can't see past the emotional turmoil but other people can because they're not going through the emotional / feeling part the way you are.
You appear to have a lot of inner strength that you may not have yet started to recognise. I know people used to tell me that I was a very strong person. I poopooed that. As far as I was concerned I was as weak as. I can now accept that yes, I am a strong person and a survivor but it took a long time to understand this aspect of me. 🎶💕 I must get me some slee. I hope you sleep well. Hugzzz 💕 🎶
