My Place

My Place

Hi guys,

I just wanted to have a thread where I could talk about things that make me happy without bothering anyone else.

So on Sunday a week ago I planted some seeds into a metal tub. Some veggie seeds. Carrots, garlic chives and although it’s not the season for it I threw in some cucumber seeds.

Well yesterday, only a week after planting I noticed my first little green shoot. Then today, there are a bunch of green shoots. Funnily enough I think it’s the cucumbers that have come up first. I may have to make a cloche to help them grow in the cooler weather. The tub is sitting on a concrete path so hopefully that will help keep the soil a bit warmer. I moved them a bit more into the sunshine today as we noticed that the carport was casting shade on them quite early in the afternoon.

I am so happy to see their green little faces pushing up from under that dark earth. Gives me hope in all things. I love to watch things grow. It makes me happy to think that I have played a part in that.

Every day I water them and have a chat with them. How are you today my seeds? I hope that you will grow soon! Now I can encourage them to grow bigger and stronger.

I can’t wait to set up my other veggie garden and grow more things. I am especially looking forward to planting my tomatoes come spring.

Re: My Place

When indeed @PeppyPatti

Sometimes it’s healing to talk about it.

Sometimes I still feel that way @Jynx. I have a difficult relationship with my daughter and she rejects me in small ways. She recently refused to talk to me for 6 months. We have only just started talking again in the last month. Every time it brings back the Mother rejection pain. I agree with Shaz. Definitely affects current and future relationships

Lucky for me my husband is very kind, caring and patient! He supports me as well as he can. Sometimes I just say “I hate my life”

These feelings will come in time to time @Oaktree , @PeppyPatti but it depends what we do with these feelings over time xx

Good question @Glisten with me I would put it down to my real uncle and aunty influence over time which has helped me to pick a wonderful caring Mr shaz xx

@Jynx it is still our brain that will cause us to over think of what people say to us which promotes rejections

I definitely overthink things. I tend to ruminate. I replay conversations in my mind over and over again. Causing myself more pain no doubt

I am glad that you have a wonderful husband too. You deserve the best

@PeppyPatti It is hard, especially the comparison part. "Comparison is the thief of joy" is a go to quote I think of to help remind myself that comparing my journey to others' helps neither them nor me.

When do we seek and give empathy? As soon as we're able to, as soon as our energy allows us to I suppose?

Some childhood wounds never fully heal, but we can learn to grow around them.

@Oaktree oh I'm so sorry to hear that it's so strained with your daughter. I hope things have been going okay with you two chatting again?

@Oaktree my therapist was telling me recently about how important externalising is for our processing...process. Basically it's like... if we just keep it all inside, it can just swirl about in a cyclic manner and we never really find resolution. Externalising can be through talking about it, journalling, basically anything that allows you to express the thoughts (one of my go-to's nowadays is using my voice memo app as my journal... I do write stuff out from time to time but often find my mind moves way faster than my pen, so voice recording is much easier).

Maybe these conversations wouldn't revolve around in your mind so much if you had a crack at externalised them before they get too ruminatey? Food for thought, your process is your own of course!!
