My Place

My Place

Hi guys,

I just wanted to have a thread where I could talk about things that make me happy without bothering anyone else.

So on Sunday a week ago I planted some seeds into a metal tub. Some veggie seeds. Carrots, garlic chives and although it’s not the season for it I threw in some cucumber seeds.

Well yesterday, only a week after planting I noticed my first little green shoot. Then today, there are a bunch of green shoots. Funnily enough I think it’s the cucumbers that have come up first. I may have to make a cloche to help them grow in the cooler weather. The tub is sitting on a concrete path so hopefully that will help keep the soil a bit warmer. I moved them a bit more into the sunshine today as we noticed that the carport was casting shade on them quite early in the afternoon.

I am so happy to see their green little faces pushing up from under that dark earth. Gives me hope in all things. I love to watch things grow. It makes me happy to think that I have played a part in that.

Every day I water them and have a chat with them. How are you today my seeds? I hope that you will grow soon! Now I can encourage them to grow bigger and stronger.

I can’t wait to set up my other veggie garden and grow more things. I am especially looking forward to planting my tomatoes come spring.

Re: My Place

@Tony you just try and make me blush old mate. It'll take someone even cheekier than you to rose up these cheeks, I'm a farm pirate!

I'm so glad you're alright. I'm not in much lately but I do pop by to check that you guys are going ok. That's probably creepy, but it's creepy love not just creep for creepiness sake. I know hospital is not exactly 'alright', but my definition of you being alright is you fishing out your classic unique brand of tonys bulldust/ratbaggery/deep wisdom 😀 and that seems to be back in force!

Toebag trick? Hilarious, brutal, funny, silly, check. Love it. Keep on being your beautiful self @tonys. we live for it and we love it, whether it be your poet side or your ratbag devilry.

Re: My Place

@TABstill have nagging symptoms of covid over 3 months now.

Possible operation on the horizon find out tomorrow. so not impressed.

Say no more about that.

I am more than likely the same as most on here up and down.

I find I use my sense of humour more and more than I do anything else really.

Probably lost the plot.....don't really care.

Gardening ...definitely expensive @Oaktree @TAB

I want to buy some plants but with medical bills and time of year need to wait.

I have managed to grow some more plants from cuttings that I have taken.

I have a friend who lives close by who is into raised garden beds and vegetables so will look into that perhaps next autumn. Would that be a good time if they are raised Meggle?

My expert organic market gardener. extraordinaire.

Re: My Place

yeah, still done nothing with garden here except water front yard couple times when was over 40 deg. front lawn mostly grass. birds love whatever it is they had made bare patches in it just reddish soil like rock lol @Sophia1

think I have after effects of covid, who knows.

been on my own here too long atm and am losing the plot. had told self go away to city once a month, skipped last month and things start to crumble, plus no on e visiting, that leads to making contact w people should not really talk to as are idiots etc etc and xmas and not seeing anyone and well, in some ways may as well have got a house in WA and stayed there if this is how its going to be. i visited old friend like 7 weeks ago now. not much contact or any mention of catching up. prob better to stay in my own little world for a while anyway I suppose. have work to do on myself.

Hello @LeChuck nice to see you

Re: My Place

Hey @TAB

Moving into a new home is surreal and exciting and then reality hits.

It really does not matter where you live Tab. We can feel lonely when we are surrounded by a house full of people. I do not enjoy Christmas at all because I am with extended family who are not interesting just self centred blah blah. I feel so lonely. Husband happy as he sits there and smiles not having to engage in too much conversation as they all talk over each other and don't listen. Fortunately there are some little ones and I just spend my time playing and chatting with them.

Give it time. Still early days.

Can you treat yourself to something special for the day that is not about sharing with others?

How is your cooking coming along?
