My Place

My Place

Hi guys,

I just wanted to have a thread where I could talk about things that make me happy without bothering anyone else.

So on Sunday a week ago I planted some seeds into a metal tub. Some veggie seeds. Carrots, garlic chives and although it’s not the season for it I threw in some cucumber seeds.

Well yesterday, only a week after planting I noticed my first little green shoot. Then today, there are a bunch of green shoots. Funnily enough I think it’s the cucumbers that have come up first. I may have to make a cloche to help them grow in the cooler weather. The tub is sitting on a concrete path so hopefully that will help keep the soil a bit warmer. I moved them a bit more into the sunshine today as we noticed that the carport was casting shade on them quite early in the afternoon.

I am so happy to see their green little faces pushing up from under that dark earth. Gives me hope in all things. I love to watch things grow. It makes me happy to think that I have played a part in that.

Every day I water them and have a chat with them. How are you today my seeds? I hope that you will grow soon! Now I can encourage them to grow bigger and stronger.

I can’t wait to set up my other veggie garden and grow more things. I am especially looking forward to planting my tomatoes come spring.

Hi guys,

Sorry it has been a few weeks since I posted here. Hubby had his knee replacement surgery on the 4th. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks post surgery and he is recovering well. He isn’t using his crutches anymore around the house and he is continuing with his exercises.

I have a few things making me happy today! First thing is Christmas in July. We are celebrating that today. The boys and their partners are coming over at 2pm and we are having dinner at 3pm. We are having roast pork shoulder, hopefully with crackling (if I don’t burn it again) and pumpkin, roast potatoes, cheesy potatoes, peas, corn, asparagus, apple sauce and gravy. I am really looking forward to seeing the kids and spending time with them. We will probably play a few hands of cards after dinner.

The next thing is my garden. It’s all growing well in my greenhouses and I have my first two cucumbers on the vine. Those are nearly ready to pick. I hoed up all the grass and weeds growing in my garden bed by the fence because in spring I am going to plant bee attracting flowers there. I will need to keep hoeing it for the next few weeks as weeds reappear. I bought a bunch of new seeds. 13 packets of different flower seeds for the bees and 11 packets of vegetable seeds. I also bought a cute little bird bath and put stones in it especially for the bees to come and have a drink 🐝.
I also ordered 4 raised garden beds which I am waiting for to be delivered. I should get them by Wednesday I think. I am excited to get started with some serious vegetable growing. I planted some chilli, tomato and lettuce seeds yesterday so just waiting for them to germinate. Oh yes and I forgot to mention that I bought a little bay tree that I am growing in a pot.

Happy Days!

The other good thing is that I am really healthy mentally at the moment and I also signed up to walk in One Foot Forward in October for the 4th year in a row. Things are going really well here.

I even made it to Church yesterday which I enjoyed. It was lovely to see people and get hugs.

I hope that you are all ok.

Much Love,

Meggle

Re: My Place

That sounds nice @Oaktree really indulgent. Enjoy your afternoon celebrating Christmas in July. I'm getting out in my garden to do some weeding next week. Have to plant some produce and buy more seeds as part of my seed supply. Just in from another walk. This week have a few things to do around the house like cleaning up. I really dislike housework but I guess its got to be done! How is your tidying going?

Hi guys,

Just an update on my Christmas in July today. The dinner turned out to perfection.Luckily I didn’t burn the crackling today but the roast was ready a bit early and I almost forgot to reheat the cheesy potatoes. Got it all together in the end and everyone enjoyed it enormously. After the dinner we played cards (Rummy and Unstable Unicorns). Whilst playing cards we snacked on crisps and dip and ate biscuits that my son’s girlfriend made. After that we had lemon curd cheesecake. We were all very well fed for the day. Just a typical Christmas! I hadn’t eaten anything all day in preparation for all the food. I guess it’s not every day so it’s fine. I have been doing really well on my Lite n Easy so could afford a little splurge. Most of all I enjoyed spending time with my kids and their partners and we all had a good laugh and lots of fun. They were here for 4 1/2 hours. Luckily for us we have a dishwasher so the dishes are nearly all done as well.
Happy Days.

Much Love,

Meggle
