My Place

My Place

Hi guys,

I just wanted to have a thread where I could talk about things that make me happy without bothering anyone else.

So on Sunday a week ago I planted some seeds into a metal tub. Some veggie seeds. Carrots, garlic chives and although it’s not the season for it I threw in some cucumber seeds.

Well yesterday, only a week after planting I noticed my first little green shoot. Then today, there are a bunch of green shoots. Funnily enough I think it’s the cucumbers that have come up first. I may have to make a cloche to help them grow in the cooler weather. The tub is sitting on a concrete path so hopefully that will help keep the soil a bit warmer. I moved them a bit more into the sunshine today as we noticed that the carport was casting shade on them quite early in the afternoon.

I am so happy to see their green little faces pushing up from under that dark earth. Gives me hope in all things. I love to watch things grow. It makes me happy to think that I have played a part in that.

Every day I water them and have a chat with them. How are you today my seeds? I hope that you will grow soon! Now I can encourage them to grow bigger and stronger.

I can’t wait to set up my other veggie garden and grow more things. I am especially looking forward to planting my tomatoes come spring.

Re: My Place

@hanami , our lowest temperture at night is 14 degrees and we might only have 2 of those nights in the whole autumn and winter time

during the day it will still go up to 27 degrees but the humidity is a little bit lower

it was cooler yesterday

but today is a bit warmer due to more cloud cover and they say it is going to rain tomorrow

that is why all the travelers down south travel up here with their caravans and have a holiday in our winter, they totally love our weather.

Re: My Place

32 one litre cartons of almond milk, and not cold. It does not need to be chilled. It will last me next month so I don't have to get it at a higher price on my monthly Woolworths online shop.

I buy monthly as you save a lot buying in bulk @Shaz51 I get $50 off per month from Woolies buying in bulk which really adds up. I use their Everyday Extras 10% off So if I buy $500 worth of grocery once a month it works out to a saving of $50/month

Hi @EternalFlower

I will tell you when I get home where I went.

What movie are you going to see?

I saw The Bookclub recently. I really enjoyed it. Was just a nice light hearted kind of movie.

Re: My Place

I know what you mean about it being soothing @EternalFlower . That's how I feel about Drag Race. Even if it's just on in the background while I'm doing other things. I find it so calming!

Hi @EternalFlower

I am not sure if you have a thread where I would normally post this message of support - so here seems to be okay - I hope that's alright.

I read your brief interaction with a member who is panicking - I think - I have sent them a supportive message and hope it helps them get support here - if nowhere else. I wanted to check on you though - to make sure you are okay.

A lot of people are battling at the moment - I do understand that - people can be very frustrated at times - so I try my best to listen -

All the best @EternalFlower

Hi everyone,

I hope you all are having a good day!

This morning I went to the Swan Valley with my support worker. We went to The Honey House and she bought me a cuppa. While we were there we discussed my need to get around to ringing up about seeing a psychologist. I got funding for that with the NDIS but I have been putting off calling. Then we went to Whistler’s Chocolate Factory. I gave my sample to my worker because I am doing Lite n’ Easy and am being good. After that we went to the cinemas at Midland and saw the John Farmham thing. It’s not really a movie, more a documentary. I hadn’t realised that John Farnham had faced so many setbacks as I knew him only as a hugely successful artist.

When I got home I did actually make the call about the psychologist and OT and the receptionist has sent me a referral form to fill in. This was huge for me as I have a phone phobia. I didn’t really know what to say on the phone. I had a list of providers but the other support worker that I was with said that this mob were really good. She has other clients that see them. So I will try them out and hope that it works out.

Anyway I have had a lovely day even though the sky is grey and dreary. The weather is going to be wet again tomorrow but from Thursday onwards the sun is coming out again.
