My Place

My Place

Hi guys,

I just wanted to have a thread where I could talk about things that make me happy without bothering anyone else.

So on Sunday a week ago I planted some seeds into a metal tub. Some veggie seeds. Carrots, garlic chives and although it’s not the season for it I threw in some cucumber seeds.

Well yesterday, only a week after planting I noticed my first little green shoot. Then today, there are a bunch of green shoots. Funnily enough I think it’s the cucumbers that have come up first. I may have to make a cloche to help them grow in the cooler weather. The tub is sitting on a concrete path so hopefully that will help keep the soil a bit warmer. I moved them a bit more into the sunshine today as we noticed that the carport was casting shade on them quite early in the afternoon.

I am so happy to see their green little faces pushing up from under that dark earth. Gives me hope in all things. I love to watch things grow. It makes me happy to think that I have played a part in that.

Every day I water them and have a chat with them. How are you today my seeds? I hope that you will grow soon! Now I can encourage them to grow bigger and stronger.

I can’t wait to set up my other veggie garden and grow more things. I am especially looking forward to planting my tomatoes come spring.

@TAB

So sorry that your back is still troubling you. It’s good that you made up an excuse to get you out of the work. It’s a shame that that didn’t work out. New house situation is so exciting. I would encourage you to respond to emails about settlement so you don’t lose your house.

Enjoy your drink. Sounds like you should make it a stiff one. Sorry about the lack of fun. Things will get better I promise x

Re: My Place

Big congratulations to your hubby on his new job @Oaktree - very happy for you both.

It sounds like you have been keeping yourself busy and doing well too. It's quite the talent crocheting - may I ask what you are making?

Sounds like your planting is going well. Fresh cucumbers from the garden are so yum. Maybe you should plant some more seedlings such as the carrots if they didn't take.

I hope the rest of your day / evening goes well for you and your hubby and I look forward to chatting with you again soon.

Warm wishes,

FloatingFeather

Re: My Place

Hi @FloatingFeather

I am contributing some squares for an Aboriginal colours blanket. I previously made 20 squares and the first blanket is already completed but we are now trying to finish a second blanket in the same colours. These blankets are to donate to Perth Children’s Hospital to keep sick kids warm around the wards.

I hope you have a great evening too. I will see if I can upload a picture of the finished blanket.

Up to page 10. Going to keep reading but it would look to me that you have some healthy activities that your doing. I have no idea how you just joined a majong game with people you didnt know for a game you hardly knew, I would have been anxious as crazy, probably shaking significantly.

You must have a good support team around you, like you must have a good psychologist/psychiatrist etc and you must be paying good attention to them.

This is sorta the opposite of mine. Mine is a lot of trying to work through things, complaining, highlighting the more negative things. I get you would have difficult days that you chose not to dwell on on here but it is great to hear about all the positives. I dont see much in my life but its great to know they sill happen IRL

Re: My Place

Dear @ClockFace

I have had some very dark days, which lasted years. I never thought that I would come out of the darkness but guess what? I did!

My psychologist and I parted ways last October and I have to do a ring around to find a new one. The NDIS approved 24 visits a year and my new plan has just begun.

I have a great public psychiatrist whom I have been seeing for several years. She was previously my psych at the clinic for 3 years before she left to work at the hospital but then she came back again. So we have had a relationship over about 6 years. She knows me really well and I am happy with her.

I also have a case manager at the clinic. She is pretty young but really good and easy to talk to.

Other than that I have a support worker who encourages me to get out of the house and takes me to groups run by her organisation. Doing that for like 5 years or so has given me the confidence to start stepping out on my own and going to a few things alone.

I finally feel like my life is coming together and mentally I am in the best shape I have been since I was 19 years old. I am 52 now! I am finally happy which is something that I never thought I could be. I used to be so detached from my emotions that I just felt numb.

Don’t give up. There is hope. My new avatar on Sane is a baby oak tree to represent hope.
