My Place

My Place

Hi guys,

I just wanted to have a thread where I could talk about things that make me happy without bothering anyone else.

So on Sunday a week ago I planted some seeds into a metal tub. Some veggie seeds. Carrots, garlic chives and although it’s not the season for it I threw in some cucumber seeds.

Well yesterday, only a week after planting I noticed my first little green shoot. Then today, there are a bunch of green shoots. Funnily enough I think it’s the cucumbers that have come up first. I may have to make a cloche to help them grow in the cooler weather. The tub is sitting on a concrete path so hopefully that will help keep the soil a bit warmer. I moved them a bit more into the sunshine today as we noticed that the carport was casting shade on them quite early in the afternoon.

I am so happy to see their green little faces pushing up from under that dark earth. Gives me hope in all things. I love to watch things grow. It makes me happy to think that I have played a part in that.

Every day I water them and have a chat with them. How are you today my seeds? I hope that you will grow soon! Now I can encourage them to grow bigger and stronger.

I can’t wait to set up my other veggie garden and grow more things. I am especially looking forward to planting my tomatoes come spring.

Re: My Place

Hey @Oaktree !

Great to see you!

I think the presentation went well. I've sent out a feedback survey but I'll wait and see. I heard someone say that it was the best professional learning they have received in over 4 years!

I had an issue with one participant though who was clearly there because she HAD to and not because she wanted to. She was on her phone the whole time, and was laughing and talking to the person next to her.

Then, at the end of the presentation, she asked all these questions (to catch me out). I later found out that she'd colluded with someone else to put me down.

Anyway, this has been escalated, and I'm sure it will be handled.

I'm not fussed though because I know the PL was helpful for all those others.

That’s awful. How rude of that person.

Some people are just so mean.

I am glad that you are not taking that on as a YOU problem. It was definitely a THEM problem. Glad to hear that it went well.

Hey @Oaktree how are you going

Re: My Place

@Oaktree , I feel it is a good learning.

In a way, I like some of these challenges, because it allows me to see how much I've grown. I used to fall into a ditch if things like this happened. Nowadays, I work through it.

I was actually impressed how it turned out in terms of the negative person. I realised I was able to stand up and do something about behaviour that has the potential to cause a toxic culture.

Good for you! Way to make a negative into something positive! It’s the same as that bit of conflict I handled. It made me feel good and like that I had grown as a person. It also gives me something to say in an interview when they say tell me about a time where you handled conflict 😀. I am still sorry to hear that that happened to you because you are innately a really nice person.

Re: My Place

I can't say I'm 'innately' good lol @Oaktree But yes, feeling the triumph and victory of having these little wins certainly shows I've grown. This is more important that anything.

I'm huge on always learning and growing. Without these challenges, growth is limited.

Feel free to share your little wins too 🙂

I knew innately was spelt wrongly but I couldn’t work out what was wrong. Good on you for correcting that for me. I was learning about boundary setting today in my zoom. This is something that I am not good at. I have had to think about what I want to work on next with my psychologist. I think trust, boundaries and my needs.

How are you @Oaktree
I miss my mum a lot today

Re: My Place

Oooo! I didn't even realise that you spelt innately incorrectly. Trust me, it wasn't my intention to point the spelling error.

I put the apostrophes because the idea of being 'innately' good is so so foreign to me. It's the first time I've heard someone say that. @Oaktree

(Trust me, it wasn't to pick up a spelling error) 🙂

Haha you are funny, I should go back and edit my first post. But I meant what I said. You are a wonderful and kind human being. You deserve good things to come your way. You always do nice things for others. By the way I haven’t heard anything about the scholarship interviews yet. I guess if they don’t want to see me I won’t hear anything.
