New puppy new life new Thread.

New puppy new life new Thread.

Both Cookie and I had a big day today. Me getting the house, supplies, space ready and really very anxious about new responsibilities of being a puppy mum. Cookie with travel strange place and being left here by her family.

We had cuddles for a while till she was less anxious her heart was racing. Then I encouraged her to explore a bit with some treats. She is now having a doze in her crate next to me and all seems right with the world. I think I could nearly doze too.

The constant hyper alert status my body has been in seems to have mellowed. I didn't know how bad it had gotten till it went.

I'm sure things will keep going up and down but I haven't felt calm in a very long time.

Oooooo!!!! How special @Gillie1 ! I know you will make a lovely puppy mum!

I look forward to some photos (with our Anonymity guideline in mind of course).

Lots of cuddles and treats - what a way to begin this new life.

Thank you for sharing your good news story!

@Gillie1 Lovely to hear your news. Good luck with it all.

When I moved to where I am living now, We got 2 kittens whom I would cuddle for hours. They grew and one became King of the Court, the other a mummy's boy.

Re: New puppy new life new Thread.

She likes the African violet lawn patch out the front and is relaxed enough to play with her first chew toy (redirected to it after trying the metal table leg lol). The pen is just a loan till her new crate arrives but she is happy in there and took her new toy in there to chew so crate training shouldn't be too difficult hopefully.

She likes sniffing in the African violet lawn

@Gillie1

Getting a new dog is special. We have 4 dogs total, makes for a bit of a mad house as they are all indoor dogs. 3 Golden Retrievers and a Groodle, so not exactly small dogs but we are on 3 acres to wear themselves out in. They share it with some chickens, a fat goat and a very fat sheep.

Animals are awesome, none of the dogs are mine, but sitting patting them and them seeking you out to spend time with is a great feeling. One of the dogs and I have a cool bond, will come and spend a lot of time with me. The Groodle has taken to sleeping at my feet or side and loves a good rub, but I think that will change when my sister gets home. They didnt have a long time together but certainly bonded

Congrats, hope u 2 get on great.

Do you have pics of your dogs @ClockFace ? I'd be sooo interested!I love labradors, retrievers and all 🙂 (once again, keeping Anonymity in mind when sharing photos of course)

Re: New puppy new life new Thread.

@ClockFace My last 2 dogs were golden retrievers beautiful companions but too big for my place. Cookie had the zoomies tonight a burst of energy playing ball and exploring tonight. Fun but exhausting.

She has decided she likes the sheet I was going to put over the pen and has settled down to rest on it again now at my feet. We seem to have gotten off to a good start. Plenty of treats and attention. We will both sleep well tonight.

I agree animals are the best. I'd love more space for her to run. and play but she is a pretty chilled girl.

Goodnight all.

Re: New puppy new life new Thread.

@Kyle1 @ No she is a staffy. My last two girls were retrievers though. Maybe I typed in error. Golden retrievers are my favorite breed but my place is too small for a puppy that size. My other girls were mature when I got them.
