Heres the list of what Im dealing with
Sacroiliac joint dysfuntion
Lumbar joint dysfunction
3 bulging discs
Scheuermann's Disease
Facet Joint Disease
Osteoarthritis
Multiple tight nerves
Migranes
Bladder Cancer
GORD
Hypertension
Asthma
Sleep Apnea
Restless legs
Bipolar 2 with psychotic features
Depression
General Anxiety Disorder
OCD
Complex PTSD
The first 6 conditions cause chronic pain, the sixth adds to the pain. The first one was treated with a procedure where nerve branches were burnt away, doing this revealed the second condition. We did a similar procedure on that however so far it hasnt exactly worked, though the tight nerves might be getting in the way of working out if it worked. I have another month to see if it works, it can take weeks for the procedure to work, if there is nothing by then, then they will redo the procedure. If they can sort out the treatment of the Lumbar joint dysfunction, then this should treat the sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Treatment of the lumbar joint dysfunction has to be repeated every 6-9 months. This means when the treatment wears off, I tell my specialist, who books another procedure. So there is a gap between the pain returning and the repeat procedure, meaning there is going to be a period of time where I am back in a bucket load of pain.
The bulging discs dont cause a huge issue in comparison to the joint dysfunctions, the same with schueuermans disease and facet joint disease. They all or some of them might become more prominate if the treatment of the joint dysfunction works but for now there is no issue.
The tight nerves are new, they are causing a lot of pain, I think its causing the pain when walking etc. Im seeing a physiotherapyist weekly and doing exercises to try and treat this. Im going to see a message therapyist in a couple days, doctor thought that this might might give me a break from time to time.
I was getting migranes reasonably often however I started a preventative medication which has helped stop them from happening as often, actually since it started working I havent had a single migrane, which I hope remains the same. A migrane would send me into the darkest, quietest room I could find. It would cause any light to be blinding and sound was deafening, both would cause incredibly sharp pains within my brain along with constant pounding pain.
Bladder cancer is more or less an inconvienience. It doesnt cause me any discomfort, it only affects my life when I have to have procedures related to it. Every 6 months I have a procedure to check if I have a new tumor. The scope would go up the hole to your bladder you didnt want to have anything going up. Until recently this has been done while I was awake but going forward Ill be put under for it. If a tumor is found then another procedure is done to remove it. This is the process while the tumor grade is as it is, if it gets worse etc then there are other procedures, possibly bladder removal etc.
GORD sucks, I take medication for it but it only minimises it not actually treats it completely. Generally speaking the medication manages things but often enough I get reflux so badly that the medication isnt enough. It can be really uncomfortable, I tend to drink iced coffee to calm it down but that doesnt always work. Im on the maximum medication for this so I have to live with what Ive got.
Im on medication for Hypertension, the medication has my blood pressure under contol but without it, it was very high.
I have asthma but no longer is it severe, its a lot better than when I was younger. Every now and then it flares up and it needs to be treated differently than normal. But its rare.
The area of sleep is a difficult one for me I struggle to maintain a regular sleep pattern, I have to deal with insomnia, over sleeping and irratic sleeping. I have restless legs which I take medication for, it helps but still doesnt stop me kicking and carrying on. Its better than it was before the medication, before hand I could move my mattress off the bed. I also have sleep apnea, I use a CPAP machine. Ive been on the machine for around 20 years. Dad has it as well, he has been on his machine for even longer. Im used to the machine, its a little annoying, the tube is frustrating as is the mask at times but without the CPAP I feel horrible and eventually it would mean Id die.
I seem to be fortunate that the medication I am on stabalise my mood quite well, so I am not subject to the up and down swings associated with bipolar 2, that said I tend to be on the down swing predominately which, while not uncommon, sucks. On the other hand my psychotic symptoms are more influential on my life. From hallucinations to derealisation and a heap of psychotic experiences inbetween Im rarely short of issues to deal with. If Im fortunate I do go short periods without any experiences.
Depression is probably the more impactful mental health concern I have, my feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, that I dont matter. As I said I have sleep issues, Im tired all the time, with very low energy. With regular suicidal ideation. It makes my days very difficult, it makes them quite miserable.
My anxiety is a bitch to deal with, not being able to deal with large numbers of people or cars. Feelings of overwhelming guilt with no cause, like Im going to get in trouble. Randomly being overcome by nervousness, racing heart etc. Every now and then I get severe pain in the middle of my chest.
OCD used to be a big issue, taking up hours of my day. I was treated with ERP and got a great deal of relief, so much so that I have little daily impact from it.
Complex PTSD is new and Ive not had any treatment yet. I do not totally understand the issue as yet or how it affects me. I know it does, I know that it impacts my decision making, I know that it affects my preferences like not wanting males to treat me etc.
Outside my physical and mental conditions my life is is very complex. My family life is less than ideal. I dont feel that I am well treated, that Im pretty well abused by my family. My sister has my Mum wrapped around her little finger, and manipulates her and what is going on as often as possible. There is a heap that has gone on with my sister, in relation to I dunno, I cant work it out. Financially, Im in a really bad way. Im not working, Im on SCI but I will eventually return to work. Everyone in the family is sick which makes things hard
Ive had a number of hours sleep, its now 2am. I feel pretty odd, I cant tell you exactly how I feel. Im still pretty tired, Ill go back to bed shortly. I had planned that I would go into shops when I woke up but Im not up for it at all. About all I want to do at the moment is go back to sleep. I stayed up a bit, well a lot longer and felt better. I ended up going to get iced coffee. Im going to go back to bed in a minute though.
I had a few hours sleep, I dont think Ill be up for a long time, Im pretty tired, my back is really bad, Im not sure what else to do other than to go to bed. Walking is less of a challenge and more of chore. I put it off as much as possible
I woke up feeling really sick, like I want to throw up. Like normal Im tired and really sore, my right shoulder is really sore. My lower lumbar on the right side feels like there is a really sharp stabbing. I have message therapy tonight, I really hoping it helps, I know its only temporary but a short relief is better than no relief.
Im really stuggling with the pain today, like being in pain. There is constant pain, pain that doesnt let up, that I somewhat am used to, its like Ive grown accustom to that pain, though it varies in intesity which makes getting used to it fully impossible. What causes me difficulty pain wise is that there is sources of pain that flares up randomly. Every day there is, what feels like, new pain. It certainly is new pain from the respect that it wasnt present earlier, like I went to bed and it wasnt there and when I woke up it was there. Thats probably the hardest pain to deal with, never knowing where the pain is going to come from. Its fresh pain, its like a new pain. There is never time to rest and recover from the fresh pain, let alone from the constant pain.
Being exceptionally tired doesnt help. It makes pain worse, just being tired, but it reduces your ability to deal with the pain itself. My sleep pattern is non-existant, I sleep for a couple hours and Im awake for a couple hours, after my night medication I tend to sleep for a few hours, its the most sleep I get in one hit than I get at any other time. At times Im up for more than a couple hours, particularly if I have appointments. But I dont get a solid 8 hours at any time, not even a solid 4 or 6 hours. So, I am pretty well exhusted at all times, Im forever really tired, which amoungst other things, makes dealing with my pain incredibly hard.
I went back to sleep, Im having a hard time with being tired today. I have spent quite a bit of time asleep but even when Im up after all this sleep Im ready to go back to bed. Its about all thats on my mind today. Ive got the message therapist in a little while, so Ive just had a shower, Im completely stuffed now and in so much pain, Im shaking again, I have to stay up for the therapist, but it is only half an hour, Ill probably go to bed when I get home or soon after.
I think my depression has gotten worse, which is why I want to sleep so much at the moment. The realisation that I cant afford to move out has hit hard, my medical costs are really high, that is the known medical costs, given my history I would expect them to increase. Had I had normal medical costs then I would be able to manage to move out, but there again, I would likely not be in the position I am now. I am somewhat resentful of my medical situation and the costs involved, so much of my money goes towards medical costs, just to maintain the status quo and the status quo isnt that fantastic. I look for ways to improve my medical situation, new treatments, different treatments but this cost money of course. Im not expecting a cure to my conditions, I dont see that happening but if I can improve my situation then I will. I have a lot going medically and I would imagine that there is plenty of cross over between medications etc which would cause different symptoms. So looking for the right combination is always a goal. That's where the new Psychiatrist comes in. But it all comes at a cost and from what I see it's my freedom. Moving out isn't an option now and while I'm feeling trapt at home now, I have to work my way through that and work out what my best course of action is now.
I went and had the message thing, I lasted 15 minutes, the smell, seriously the smell. They must have been burning like 100 different scented candles at once in a pretty small location. I dont think they know how to open a window. Im not sure one has ever been opened. After 15 minutes I was about to throw up and had to leave, I just paid and left. It took about 30 minutes for me to calm down. Just on the smell I wouldnt be doing it again but it didnt help, Im in more pain now than I was before, I know I didnt give it the full session but if it made it worse in the first 15minutes then I dont hold much hope for another 15 minutes.
I think the whole thing of boundries is going to have to be pushed, particularly when it comes to my sister. My sister pretty much does what she wants, she listens in on conversations through doors, tries to find my SANE posts, takes over the house with her stuff, projects in the kitchen, you name it. Mum is a close second to my sister but she doesnt leave her room and I can more or less ignore her and leave. Dad is pretty easy going and lets me be me for the most part. They have all done stuff which I consider abusive, Ive written about this before. Somehow Im going to have to deal with these things, Im gonna have to work with my psych team to learn to cope with.
I laid down a little while after I got home from the message, I still wasnt feeling well, laying down didnt help the situation, I coughed up a heap of acid not long ago. I havent eaten much today so Im going to try eating soon and see if it settles things down. Im in a huge amount of pain, I cant straighen up with any comfort, my shoulders and neck are really painful, even drinking is painful, it hurts to move them. I was a bit dubious about seeing a message therapist and I wish I had listened to that.
One of the boundries my sister is really going to have to abide by is her attitude towards my medical conditions. She isnt going to change her attitude but she needs to keep it to herself. I dont understand why she has the attitude she has, there is no facts based evidence to support her attitude and its simply impossible for me to be diagnosed with all these conditions, by medical professionals and suffer the consequences of the conditions without there being pain, mental difficulties and other physical issues. There is going to be issues with treatments, medication isnt always going to sit well nor is the mixture of medication, like today, physical treatments may cause issues. Sometime a flare up happens and that derails a day, it could happen at any point during the day which could interfer with my day or the day of others and its not lazyness. My sister is chronically ill, deals with chronic pain and sufffers from mental health conditions, while I dont like comparisons, the chronic pain she has isnt the same as what I deal with, just on pain relief alone I can tell that. However, she has enough experience with all issues to have an appreciation for my conditions. Given this her attitude confuses me even more, you would think she would be my biggest support, as I her but she provides the most opposition to my conditions out of everyone.
I went to bed, Im not sure what time but I got a solid few hours sleep. Ive woken up still in a great deal of pain but also I feel pretty lousy, different to last night but not 100%. I dont think Ill be up for long before I head back to bed. Im pretty tired, Im just waiting for me to be more tired than Im in pain. I wouldnt mind going into town but I m not up for it at all. I feel too crap just at the moment. I have the tax accountant this afternoon, so I am helping to feel better before then. Im going to be dealing with the pain, its probably going to be worse by the time I get there, its a reasonably long drive which I expect will aggrivate my back.
