What stops you?

What stops you?

To those of you that have suicidal thoughts - what stops you following through with it? Feel like I'm fighting a losing battle....over it.

Re: What stops you?

@Former-Member, "fell through the cracks" ??? You survived! And because you fought it and YOU put the work in, and kept going. WELL DONE! "While there is life there's hope" I've lowered my expectations on what to 'hope' in, but discovered the meaning of life really is in the little things. The time someone I love actually rings me. The sunrays warming my toes, the birds in flight & the cycle of the butterfly, even my own breath. Its hard when all you see or hear is Blackdog, it just tells you the bad stuff and blindscyou to the good stuff, but its there. Sometimes you have to MAKE it happen, create good moments for yourself, and take in the good, you deserve no less.
Sorry, this sounds like preaching but its the only way I can get through the day. When I run with blackdog, and say these aweful things over myself that you're doing now, the energy leaves, people fall away, I take to the couch / bed, and stop living (that includes the good things). Then o get sick of that, and I bounce back, but its best to stop getting so down. I give myself 2days and I must at least go for a walk and ring someone.
Sorry, not sure I'm making sense. Please keep going.

Live for the good moments

Make them happen!

Re: What stops you?

Thanks all for advice but I fell through the cracks and didn't survive,I changed my life on the support of a mental health nurse who I put my trust in,ended up worsed off.If you Google their websites you have the crap that these professionals are accredited, specialist in cognitive/behavioral acceptance therapy..Sounds great in reality they are just well paid smart *****.I started studying psychology, social work years ago, unfortunately never finished it but the ethics were for example to not tell the client what to do and be non-judgemental.This was crap. For example, when I moved last year, the mental health nurse "advised me "to put my cats to sleep, which I couldn't do,then after supporting me to get my own life, then told me to return.I am the one who had to live with the consequences.I am now worse off because I once had hope and believed.I apologize for my negativity.I have to go to bed to keep myself safe, sleep is the only medication.I did want to walk today but we have wet windy weather. My two cats are the only thing that has kept me going for the record. Thanks for concern.

Sounds really rough @Former-Member. Glad you do have the cats .... they are amazing creatures. I had a couple growing up, and are still so attracted to them, and anything cat-like for that matter .... love with a purr inside ....

Is the cat on your avatar one of yours ?

I have been too knocked out with a cold to walk much this week, but do so as often as I can .... see dolphins sometimes in the river here ... trying to muster the energy to go for a walk now cos it's still early here in the west, and my cold is nearly gone.

Re: What stops you?

Hi @Former-Member,

Just checking in to see how you're going today? Hope you're feeling a bit better after getting some rest.

It's good to hear that your cats are so important to you. I only became a cat owner in my adult life, and I felt like it gave me access to this wonderful new dimension of life I never knew existed. I used to just think pets were just "animals" that smelt bad and messed up your house (and I know alot of people who still think that way) but that was well before I got to know my cat and "who" he is, with all the little quirks that make him unique. He brings me joy everyday just by being around. He was up all night last night - he must have been bothered by the weather as it's pretty wet and windy here today.

Hope you're having a better day today - check in and let us know how you're feeling up to it.

All the best,
supernova.

Thanks Faith and Hope(wish I could see the dolphins,I see brumbies which are beautiful) and supanova for your thoughts.I get too much rest, nothing to get up for and frankly don't want to wake up.Have to go for a walk this afternoon if weather is OK.I am very in the "shut down"mode, the anger , hopelessness and paranoia etc is overwhelming me at the moment .I live with my elderly mother who we are often not talking.I cannot talk to her as she can't handle it,she is one that is very self centred. The worst thing is she has always blamed me for things that aren't my problem ,projected things on my shoulders to escape reality. She did this last Monday which triggered this depressive episode. At least relationships with animals are less stressful than the humankind and genuine.I am feeling really Hopeless, giving up on the getting a job prospect.

You will find that think a good place to vent when things are overwhelming @Former-Member, owing to the anonymity .... and that can really help.

There are threads about pets, with forumites sharing photos of their fur-babies, and 365 Project has some great photos too ....

I am an artist, so visuals are a big thing for me ....
