So I did try once, my only memory was that I didn't think there was anything staying around for.(of course there was), fortunately for me I didn't do any permanent damage. I still have the thoughts but I know it's not the solution to the problem. I know it's not the right thing to do. I believe it would leave a bigger mess than the one that is here now. I think someone has mentioned this.
I have on many occasions since rung lifeline and they have been wonderful to chat with. I wouldn't hesitate to ring them again.
Cheers.

What keeps me going? It has changed over time. One reason I stay is that I'm still responsible for a dependent child (who is fast morphing into a young adult).
Mostly at the moment it's the faith my counsellor has in me that I can lead a better life. She backs this up with her actions.

I think the though of actually doing it, is so terrifying that it stops me.
I do recommend calling lifeline, talking to someone that understands makes a huge difference. Or going emergency room if you dont feel safe, even if you dont get checked in - just being in a different environment can lessen the pain until the urges go away.
Small things like splashing your face with cold water, or getting some exercise to increase your heart rate actually helps a lot - this will also help with sleep which makes a huge difference for a clear head.
Your not alone, all the best 🙂
