Tw: suicidal ideation and self harm urges

Tw: suicidal ideation and self harm urges

I feel so broken right now heck most of my life I’ve always felt this way… I kept pushing it aside over and over but it just kept coming up. I also feel that I’m losing my mind., I feel that there’s no one out there to help me., that the whole world is against with me living. I wish I can just make it all stop and go away but I seem to not able to shake this off… I’m in a verge of acting on the urge, without hesitation. I can’t call anyone coz they wouldn’t know how to help. I need this to end and it has to end now!!! I’m over feeling like this and just be in a never ending loop. I gotta get out and it has to be now…

hey there @AnonymousEmpath it sounds like you're having a really difficult time at the moment.

What techniques do you have for managing these urges generally?

I've sent you an email just checking in, let us know when you've got it.

I can appreciate where youre at, it sounds similar to where Ive been. It also sounds similar to where a family member is at the moment.

I will say that from my experience with SANE that they are great and will be able to help. Unlike other services they give more time on each call.

I can only speak for myself but I ended up having a brief psychotic episode, spending a month in a facility, coming home on so many meds that I didnt know who I was let alone having thoughts of harming myself. Several years of pretty intense therapy and the remainder of my life managing Bipolar 2 with psychotic feature, meaning I hallucinate and now I have the added fun on delusions.

But heres the thing, I have a job I love, with a company that stood by me through my worst times. I do have a difficult home life, but its with people I love. I eat, sleep and live in reasonable comfort. It might not be the life I imagined but I survive.

Sadly, there is no immediate fix to how you feel. There are ways to manage the feelings, to circumvent what youre thinking and the impulses you have. These arent an answer but will help you get to the answer and that is spending time with Psychiatrist/Psychologist. They will be able to get to the root of why you are feeling how your feeling and help you heal.

There are services like Anglicare Suicide Prevention and the Suicide Call Back Service. We have been able to get on with them via Community Mental Health Service but if your in the city or other states (We in SA) there would be simiar services. If your in a really bad way and can do so, present at your local ER they will help you.

I wont lie, its not an easy road and while it might be impossible to see there is beauty in life, even ini a tough life like mine (read some of my posts) I still find beauty, I find things to love, I find things to live for.

I know right now you are finding hope hard to find but rely on other, rely on my words, there is hope

Yep...know this. Happens to me every darn morning!

Can I ask anyway: if there were just one thing (outside of self harm) that you could do right now to feel different, what would it be?

And if you tell me yours I'll tell you mine. What do you say? I 🙂

@pamplemousse I’m currently doing DBT Group therapy and I’m trying to put the skills I learned so far I place but each can only do so much which still leaves me with nothing to do to soothe myself…

so I don’t know what else to do in those moments?., hence why I feel stuck…

@ClockFace finding hope right now seems like a distant memory and/or something I won’t ever get to. this tunnel im in right now doesnt seem to have a light at the end of it., it’s currently blocked by this massive wall that I can’t seem to tear down… I’m also in a job I love and lives with someone whom I get along with but the place that we currently in isn’t the best place to be in but it’ll do for the time being., aside from that I got little or no relationship with my family, don’t have friends that I can rely on or even understands what I’m going thru… hence why the notion that ‘I’m alone in this’ comes from… then there’s the ‘ no one cares so why would I too?’ As well as ‘I’ve got nothing to lose or gain by living or dying the way I want to’ those are really hard to challenge and find the truth in this lifetime… it’s so much easier towns my life right now than go on living a life that feels like torture and full of suffering…

Re: Tw: suicidal ideation and self harm urges

@Kyle1 i actually don’t have an answer for that question., my brains been set on self harming when it gets tough which is everyday… or probably completing an artwork might distract me and make me feel good… unfortunately even that I feel less motivated to do… heck just the mere idea of waking up taunts me. I just want that one day I’ll just won’t ever wake up.,

@AnonymousEmpath

I completely understand the tunnel with no light at the end. It would be unreasonable to expect you to read my posts of late but short story my sister has been in one hospital or another for 3 months for physical and mental health. Self harming, suicidal impulses etc. She ended up in a mental health facility and diagnosed BPD, still self harming, still suicidal impulses. She got sent home. More self harm and eventually an attempt. I am her carer my parents arent really involved. We all live together. We are all disabled. I have major spinal issues, waitiing on surgery ATM. I have Bladder Cancer. Bipolar 2 with psychotic features, I hallucinate and now have delusions, the 2 kinda mix together. I have severe anxiety, so much that even with medication my hands shake constantly. I have depression. Im in chronic pain, Im on 4 different pain medications just to function. In total Im on 27 daily medications.

I stated having incredibly intense chest pains with shortness of breath, I went to ER, my sister had to come cause she didnt feel safe. Im getting hooked up to check for a heart attack and she ended up being admitted as well. Im now being investigated for heart disease.

I pee blood, so started pliminary testing but prob have to have another cystoscopy to see if I have another tumor in the near future.

I have a list of topics to discuss with my GP. The appointments are 15 min long, though mine usually go longer but I have enough topics for another couple of months.

I say all that not to show you how shit my life is but so you know I know how shit life is and that lights at the end of the tunnel arent always there. They arent, without sounding corny, thats when you get a flashlight and make your own light. Its not gonna last forever but it will get you further down the tunnel until you can see the light.

To be honest, 1/2 the time I am using a flashlight. Im on here more than most just looking for a glimmer of hope, someone to tell me how to put my foot forward and take the next step.

My family arent at all supportive. My Mum doesnt come out her room, everything is taken too her. My Dad spends most his time out the back with his head in the sand. If he is inside he is in his room on his laptop, again with his head in the sand. My sister clearly isnt in a space to help or support. Dont get me wrong Dad will take me to my surgeries (number 4 for the year coming up) and pick me up, but he wont stay inside and make sure I am ok to get around (spinal surgery).

I have one friend who I reached out to recently, we see each other a few times a year. Anyhow I reached out and he was in the middle of custody issues so not real supportive of my issues.

Again Im not trying to compare, my situation is worse than yours or anything like that. I dont know your situation. But I understand just how shit life can be, I really do. And it wasnt so long ago that I was thinking, why bother. Or Ill get her home and then Im done. even before my sister stuff, I was sick of the constant pain, all the meds, the financial burden but its small steps at the begining, like writing on the forums, or FB. Then a phone call and a chat, and another. then seeing a councillor or psychologist and maybe a psychiatrist. But its small steps. I did mine a bit arse about, I had a psychologist, I saw my GP then I got real help through SANE. I posted in the forums...a lot. Now I occassonally reply to others.

Am I 100% no, not at all. I mean my sister attempted only a few nights ago and that kinda leaves a mark. But small steps mate.

I cant convince you that life is worth living, I think its worth having a go at it and continuing to have a go at it. But small steps. Its got to be worth a small step

Hey @ClockFace. Thank you so much for sharing your story. You truly have a lot on your plate and I am so glad you found us here.

What you wrote is amazing:

It is so, so true. It's those tiny steps and giving it a go that are the best things we can do when everything else feels overwhelming. Incredibly wise!

Re: Tw: suicidal ideation and self harm urges

@ClockFace @I was diagnosed with BPD as well hence the impulsivity and the constant self harm and suicidal ideation and urges. I’ve tried to turn things around numerous times before that I just keep ending up in this situation… reality seemed to be that of me ending my life than me fighting for it… I have 0 motivation to do so anymore… I’ve given it my best and even that it didn’t do much but to prolong this pain and suffering I’m in right now… sometimes you probably just need to accept the fact that this is it there’s nothing ahead of me but to finally end it here… which I am tossing around with right now… I want to (actually I need to.,) end it now so that a new story will start, hoping that it’ll be a better one than this… I don’t care about my safety right now that I’m in the verge of putting my suicide plan in place, I’ve got all I need to make it happen, I got all the things sorted for my loved ones once I’m gone… so nothing holds me here so I’ll give it my best shot so that this is the last one I ever have to do…
