Want to forget TW

Want to forget TW

Sometimes we can be enjoying the simplest and nicest of things and we are reminded of our past. For me that came yesterday. I was lucky enough to be attending a concert - something on it's own that would have been tricky for me in the past but it was a Christmas present and I was actually looking forward to it. It was a beautiful day and we had found a great position to set up for the day and evening. About half way through the day I had someone tap me on the shoulder - it was actually a nice surprise as it was someone I knew but had not seen in a few years. I knew his Mum - she both taught me and also was in the same sporting club many years later, and I taught his daughter. His Mum passed away a several years ago and we stayed in contact for a while afterwards. This is a person I actually like - he has been through some tough times and I think we connected on that level as well previously.

The conversation was lovely and we were all laughing together (in such a lovely way that I have not laughed for a long time) then out of the blue he brought up someone I absolutely detest. I don't know where it came from as this person is older than both of us but I suppose I should not be surprised as we all grew up in similar circles. He tried to continue the conversation but I could not help but say just how I felt about this person and could we change the subject. My sister was also there and to begin with she was going to have a go at me for being so direct but I think she then cottoned on to just how uncomfortable I was feeling and maybe knew why. This person was not one of those that had abused me for so long as a child but he was no doubt aware of it as he made my life just as impossible when he was around. I was just a kid but that did not stop the comments and implications directed towards me. I was just as scared of this person as the boys involved.

I had just the previous day spoke to my psych about leaving things in the past and then something like this happens. We had talked about what I do when triggered but this was an exception circumstance. I cannot generally hide the pain when it is so bad - I felt so sick at the time. I know my sister picked up on it but my old acquaintance was drinking a bit so really did not ...I am actually grateful for that.

Last night was a really hard night once I got home. To make it worse - I have been sick today and had to come home even before the day started at work - so there have been a lot of tears, a lot of sleeping and a lot of thoughts swimming around. I am having tomorrow off as well - whether I am well enough to be there or not physically, I know I am mentally not. This has been a massive hit and I can feel the effects both physically and mentally. I know it will pass in time but I feel that so much has been happening over the last year or so that my cup is empty.

From here I am unsure 'where to next'. I can feel the world closing in around me - yesterday is probably a culmination of so different emotions, so much grief, so much loss and so much to keep wading through. The beginning of this was 2 weeks ago when I saw a new pdoc and had to go through so much in such a small space of time. I felt okay in the moment doing so but it is always afterwards that it hits. My psych acknowledged this and just how hard it would have been ...I went straight back to work after the pdoc appointment and my psych has no idea how I had gotten the strength to do so - I don't either because it was incredibly hard ...but like most things - I push it away and try not to deal with it ...the result is I am where I am now - triggered massively by what happened yesterday, finding my head all over the place and wondering how I am going to find that place I was once at. ...it will be okay but a little extra support right now would help.

Re: Want to forget TW

Morning @Zoe7,

I just saw your fairy treehouse - that is incredible! You are such a talent - your kids are going to love that. Just an idea re the fairy element of your treehouse, a few years ago I worked at Adairs and they sold tiny little fairy lights which run off a battery if you are interested.

I hope you are pacing yourself and getting plenty of me time and rest whilst doing the path. How's the path coming along? If it's anything like your treehouse it will be amazing! Especially if you have Toby as your supervising foremen lol. I'm sure he comes up a treat after a bath.

Sounds like Clover has you wrapped around her paw like my pugs have me! It also sounds like her new trick of following mum around til she is fed is working well for her 🙂. Your fur babies must love school holidays - I'm sure they're in no rush for you to go back!

Big hugs my friend

Hello lovely @Owlunar,

It sounds like you were very much the talented handy person - to be able to fix things like the outside blinds, drill holes, and to make it all work; so impressive (wish I had such talent). It must of been so lovely to have views of Port Phillip Bay - it's a shame some things change. They sound like lovely memories.

All is well for me thank you for asking - how's all with you? I hope you are well and like is treating you kindly. My son goes back to school on Wednesday - between Easter and school holidays it feels like he has been home longer than 2 and a half weeks. He's getting bored now so it's good he is going back in a couple of days.

I don't know of any public holiday day for the coronation - it's a good question. I wonder what time it will be on for us? I'm pretty sure when I watched the wedding of Charles and Diana it was on in our evening - I wonder if that will be same with the coronation? I look forward to seeing it - it's always amazing to me to watch history unfold before our eyes.

Sending hugs back my friend,

FloatingFeather

Re: Want to forget TW

I did think about getting some fairy lights for the treehouse @FloatingFeather but am going to get some miniature lamp posts that also light up instead.

I have nearly finished the path - laid the edge for the last part yesterday and filled the hole with concrete. Had to leave it overnight to dry properly but I was getting tired from working on it anyway. I need to cut the more difficult angles today and then it will be all done.

Yes Clover has me wrapped around her little paws lol The really nice thing is she now lays on the floor in her room when it is bed time so I can give her tummy tickles then pick her up to take her to bed with me - where I get lots of cuddles before she has had enough and returns to her room. I put Toby on the bed first and he just lays there without getting jealous.

They are both loving the school holidays - Toby of course follows me everywhere. I will miss them tomorrow when I am back at work 😔

Re: Want to forget TW

@FloatingFeather @Owlunar Had today off as both Mum and Dad needed to be at 2 different hospitals for day procedures at different times ...so my sister took Dad and I took Mum. It also meant 2 trips today to my parents' place - pick up Mum this morning then take her home this afternoon. Both are okay but tired. I, too, am tired. It has been a long day. Back to work tomorrow and a lot to catch up on. I am looking forward to the weekend to have a rest and try to catch up on some work. Bed soon because I am exhausted this evening. Hope you are both doing okay 💕

Hi @Zoe7 - good to see you.

Hope your parents are okay.

Are you working tomorrow? I'm sure your furbabies will be your comfort tonight 🙂

Re: Want to forget TW

They are both okay @tyme Mum still has some test results to get but her doctor was pretty positive that everything is okay. Dad has diabetes so every time there is an issue we get more concerned. He does not take care of himself very well. Today was an eye issue and he is seeing another specialist on Monday to look at his shoulder. He is often in agony from the pain so we are hoping that can be relieved on Monday.

I am off to bed soon with my fur babies - I am exhausted myself so looking forward to some snuggles and sleep.

How are you?

Re: Want to forget TW

I'm very well, but I'd better not keep you. I hope you have a good rest @Zoe7 - perhaps we can speak tomorrow and see how your parents are going. It's not easy having diabetes. There can be so many complications.

Re: Want to forget TW

The miniature lamp posts sounds like a great idea @Zoe7 - I'd love to see a photo when you have it complete if you don't mind (no pressure if you don't want to).

As for the path - well done. Cutting angles, all the labour and hard work - what an amazing achievement. I can imagine whenever you walk the path / look at it you would feel a sense of pride that you did it! I'm sure you will be glad when it's complete and you can tick that of your list.

The way you describe Toby and Clover is so heart warming - I feel like it would be a reciprocal, mutual admiration society between you and your fur babies. I'm sure they adore you the way your adore them.

How's it going being back at work? I'm sure your babies miss you but it must be quite the homecoming when you get home!
