BPD

BPD

I think I have Borderline Personality Desorder and as I get older it affects my life and the people around me more to worse. Pushing people away, feeling more lonely and misunderstood than ever. I know I need to do a therapy but every time I tried I feel like the therapist doesn't care and it doesn't help me at all.

for yeRe: BPD

Hey S12. I've been dealing with BPD for years, it's one of the most difficult disorders to diagnose. Lots of doctors or psychs will diagnose as bipolar before BPD. It's partly because BPD is less known and is similar to bipolar. Plus there is some stigma out there that doctors won't diagnose BPD because it's a 'crapshoot' diagnosis, and many believe BPD cannot be treated.

BPD CAN be treated, I've overcome a lot with it, but only because I got a PROPER diagnosis. I spent many months before seeing a doctor, debating whether I had BPD. I took several DSM-5 BPD Tests, to figure out if my symptoms matched up - which they did. I presented that to my doctor, and he finally diagnosed me as borderline. After that, I got the right meds and treatment and started making progress.

Re: BPD

I agree with you that it's very hard to diagnose in the beginning as originally I was thought to have bipola as my father has it but once I was completely checked by a great new psychiatrist and lots of group therapy I was taken off all Meds slowly and re diagnosed as PTSD & BPD. But after years of therapy my psychiatrist said if he was to have a re diagnosis he would only classify me as PTSD. I have suffered extreme abuse in many ways over my life starting as a child age 2 onwards. I feel that the BPD flares up at times of stress life events and I get many triggers from my past that create the emotional rollercoaster. I suffer from anxiety with it and I stress a lot about everything. I have the most amazing partner but I don't believe he understands completely what I deal with inside and he takes on board the reactions and things I say which sure his only human but he detaches from me and takes flight mode and leaves me completely alone which is the exact opposite to what I need. I want to know how I can deal with the emotion side and think before I speak as I tend to say what I'm thinking and it all comes out like verbal vomit. I am a Christian and I pray to God that he helps me overcome these emotions. I pray we all have healing over this. I don't have all the traits of BPD but once there is something in my mind I tend to focus on that. I suffer from the abandonment and lonely side a great deal and lack of self worth but I am a child of the most high God and I will not be defeated and I will chose to be an overcomer. Thankyou for sharing. It helps to not feel soo alone.
