Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

@Kyle1, glad you are feeling better. I think it's natural to feel anxious that you'll feel worse again when you feel ok. It's cloudy here today. Woke up feeling pretty crappy today, feeling mental contamination more today.

Mental contamination?..

Sounds like a picnic is certainly in order...

If I should stop by the shops on my way to the estuary, what would you like that I bring? @creative_writer

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@Kyle1, like I’m internally contaminated and and gross, I don’t know how to clean this mess. Probably just a trauma response.

A picnic is a good idea. I want strawberries 🙂.

Excellent choice! We'll be picnicking in the strawberry capital down here 🙂🍓

@creative_writer

And the swans are out in droves... The deciduous trees have really turned on their colour...

And the grass is warm.

@Kyle1, glade it is beautiful there today. We had a bit of sunshine, but it has gotten dull again, I feel like yesterday was sunnier. What’s your fav fruit?

@creative_writer Favourite fruit? Oh, gosh: that's a tough one...

Blueberries.

Or mango (if only it were seedless!)

Lemon

Nashi!

Hmm.. spoilt for choice on that one 😄

I love blueberries and mangos too 🙂

Do you have a bad habit of listening to depressing songs you can relate to? I feel like I am returning to it, but I'm not sure if it's helping or making it worse.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@creative_writer yeah, I probably do. Except, I often don't find them depressing. I listen to songs that I can objectively recognise may be "depressing", but I would listen to them with different affect.

For instance, I like a lot of blues music. The really, really old stuff. Like Robert Johnson 'Crossroads' sort of stuff. And alot of that is melancholic, but it makes me feel good, somehow.

Then there are sad songs that I am comfortable with joining in the sadness, too. That is a comfort, somehow...

Do you have a particular music that is overpowering and depressive?

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@Kyle1, it's just that I'm not sure if listening to music about SI is helpful, but then I am not bothered to contact a helpline or a friend and talk through things, and this is how I am getting my validation. You know the moment you really should talk to someone but can't be bothered?

In response to: Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

in that case, @creative_writer I don't know of any music concerning SI. Unless you count those few hundred songs that involve whisky and beer and cigarettes!

Needing to talk to somebody but not bothered? I can relate to that. Be nice just to 'hang out' instead, huh. ?

Or spend devotional time...
